Taylor Swift to play Eponine in Les Miserables movie?
Taylor Swift has been offered the role of Eponine in Les Miserables reports The Collider. Amanda Seyfried was offered the role of Cosette.
The movie is based on the long running Broadway musical and will be directed by Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech). It already stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne,
What do you think of this casting? I’m on the fence. Jackman and Crowe are excellent, but I question the others, specially this.

the casting sound awful for this movie (except for Russel Crowe and Helena Bonham-Carter), Hugh Jack man is awesome and extremely talented but he's not Jean Valjean type...Les Mis is my ultimate favorite musical and this just ruins it for me. They shouldn't make a movie of it period if this is the kind of casting they are going for.
Braodway preformer Aaron Tviett is playing Marius I believe. As a theatre actress and avid musical fan, and viewer I am APPAULED by the potential addition of Taylor Swift to this cast. I will certainly not be wasting time nor money on viewing this disaster.
I can just see her moon faced, starry eyed, love sick, pretend I'm still 15 with a school girl infatuation her way through On My Own; it kills me.

My sister hates the idea but I love Taylor and I loooooove Les Mis. I think its a good idea, after all its a movie, its not like she has to sing it live xD She can't do worse than Nick Jonas.

Lea Michele should have been the one. Taylor is not even close to being believable as Eponine. Maybe they wanted to bring in country fans for this classic production. I guess we will have to see, but this isn't exciting too me anymore.
I love Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe, I think that Sacha Baron Cohen will be a good fit as well, but I'm not sure about any of the women. I don't know much about Amanda Seyfried, my biggest issue is that I just don't see how Taylor Swift is a good fit at all. I would have expected someone a little rougher to play Eponine (and probably someone with a better voice too). I think it comes down to how many fans she has

Taylor Swift is actually good casting for Eponine, as far as vocals go. TBH, if they get Valjean, Javert and Thenardier right, all is good.
I actually don't consider either of them to be "good casting" for Les Miserables as they are required to sing dramatic songs. I am struggling to envision Taylor Swift hitting the highs with "On My Own' or slowing it way down in her Marius duets at the barricades where the music is subdued with only periodic harp chords as we rely only on the pristine and flawless vocal tones of the actors to display the emotion, tell the story...
I have some reservations about them getting Taylor Swift, but I think it'll be interesting if they make them switch roles--Amanda will take Eponine and Taylor will play Cosette. I think Amanda will be a perfect Eponine.
Actually, that's perhaps the worst part - she would have to sing it live. The actors are required to record live instead of having it dubbed from a studio recording. She's completely incapable of doing the part this way, i.e. properly - especially if there's no autotune. They should cast an actual West End or Broadway singer instead of this waste of space.
