Well, if tonight’s episode taught us anything, it’s that The New Normal knows how to throw a baby shower. Too bad it doesn’t do much else.
It’s the best episode of The New Normal this season, which is surprising since it deals with death – on this, a series that has its premise deeply entrenched in the creation of life. It’s that dichotomy that makes “Dog Children” so emotionally resonant.

The New Normal stakes its claim as NBC’s best new comedy with an episode that best exemplifies everything the show has to offer, resulting in the best episode of the season so far.
(Hmm, that’s a lot of “bests”. I might be overselling it a bit. But hey, any show that has a joke about what BS it is that Crash beat Brokeback Mountain for the Oscar probably deserves the praise)
