The rivalry on Super Bowl Sunday is already shaping up as a battle between puppies and kittens.

The NFL says it’s ready to get the 2014 Super Bowl played at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey no matter what the weather conditions are early next February.

(I actually hope it snows… that’s going to be an awesome Super Bowl.)

This was hardly the way CBS wanted its Super Bowl telecast to be remembered _ for a stadium power outage that briefly silenced its game announcers. But the network handled the 35-minute delay competently and then caught a break when the 49ers turned a blowout into a compelling game.

In an unspeakable embarrassment for the Superdome and the NFL, power failed early in the third quarter, stopping the country’s most-watched game for more than a half-hour.

And according to the power company — Entergy New Orleans — it was an issue on the stadium’s end.
