Phillip Phillips will open for Matchbox 20 Tour beginning January 29, 2013 for 21 days. Matchbox 20 made the announcement on their Facebook page: “Hey Phillip Phillips – It’s been really cool watching all your success this year & we’re excited to have you come out on our NORTH America 2013 tour!”
This is an interesting pairing. Hopefully Phillip gets more fans out of this!

This 28K short of Scotty McCreery‘s debut album last year which opened with 197K (and then moved on to sell 1,122,000 copies so far) — but it’s well clear of the debut numbers of Kris Allen (80,000) and Lee DeWyze (39,000).
