Javier Colon and Universal Republic Records split

More sad news from The Voice front: Season One winner Javier Colon has parted ways with his label Universal Republic Records, BuddyTV reports.

The haters will call him a “failed artist” again which is unfortunate. Javier did good — he’s always been a musician and The Voice helped him get a bigger audience. He has more fans now than when he started and I am confident he will continue to make music and perform.

Melanie Amaro vs. Javier Colon vs. Scotty McCreery – The Sing-Off! – Who Wins?

Last night, Simon Cowell tweeted that maybe the winner of The Voice, The X Factor and American Idol can compete in a “super final” — a SuperBowl if you will of the three singing competition shows.

Nigel Lythgoe, the producer of Idol, quickly shot the idea down because his show produces “stars” (as if a competition like that would be beneath the franchise).

Well, sorry Nigel, nothing is going to stop us from doing it anyway. As a warm-up for this season, let’s use the winners of last year’s competitions for the first ever Voice-Idol-Factor-Sing-Off! Melanie Amaro vs. Javier Colon vs. Scotty McCreery? Who is your champion?

Here are videos of their “signature songs” on their respective shows plus a poll in the end. Later, I’m going to expand this to include the finalist from each program (maybe Top 4) so we can have an ultimate-ultimate winner (I think Haley Reinhart is going to win that one knowing you guys). But for now, just the winners – take the poll!

New Albums This Week – 11/21/2011

Here are some album releases for the week. I hope that Daughtry’s numbers don’t disappoint. I’m not that optimistic about Javier Colon’s numbers, but hopefully his fans give him a lot of support this week. Javier Colon to play Ray Charles in The Playboy Club

The Voice winner Javier Colon is getting another boost from NBC. He is going to appear on the new show ‘The Playboy Club’ as Ray Charles. Omigosh, can Javier act? NBC also revealed that they are positioning the show as a 1960′s ‘Glee’ where they will sell songs on iTunes and a soundtrack album. Here are other singers scheduled to appear on the show:
