This week’s episode of Fringe, “Through The Looking Glass” flashes some impeccable art direction and a series of great fight scenes, as we are welcomed into yet another new universe. With an episode title like that, it’s clear that this is a vital episode. Up till this point, the Observers have been “two steps ahead” of everything the Resistance does, but we are slowly discovering the cracks of the Observers’ system and the weaknesses within their superior powers in this week’s episode “The Bullet That Saved The World”. What if, in order to outwit the Observers, it was about being “Two steps behind?” and utilizing old school philosophies (and some tech) that the Observers fail to comprehend? And there’s a big reveal as to who’s helping out the Fringe Division and their evasion and infiltration!

To save a child or to save the world? Fringe takes a breather from it’s harrowing narrative and offers an intimate conversation on challenging the definitions of heroism and motherhood. Whilst overly moralistic at certain points, Olivia’s (Anna Torv) behavioural subtleties and thought process complexities bring a breath of fresh air to the elements of didacticism.

Fringe returns for its final season with an emotional premiere “Transilience Thought Unifier Model.” Continuing exactly where Season 4 concluded, the focus of the premiere is on Walter (John Noble) as he delivers a stellar performance and new regular character, Etta (Georgina Haig) who proves to be a great addition to the cast.

I had never tried to attend the network TV upfronts which are held on a yearly basis in NYC, but if this year was any indication, I’ll certainly be back next year for my favorites. I met a plethora of awesome people at the FOX & NBC upfronts on Monday, including Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith, Joshua Jackson, Dane Cook, and many more.
FOX has renewed Fringe for Season 5, it’s final season. The network has ordered 13 episodes for the fall (which is a half season). Here’s hoping for a strong ending to the series, even if the ratings has sent this show to Friday nights.
The finale of the current season is on May 11.
