A voice of an Angel. Let's hope someone offers her a recording deal. I could listen to her all day. Just goes to show your never toooo old.
Susan Boyle's voice is simply incredible.
I do hope the fame doesn’t go to her head; there are rumors she is considering plastic surgery! Part of her charm is her natural beauty. . .
WOW! She sounds fantastic!
Shame on the ones that made fun of her. She seems like a nice lady.
The most amazing voice I have ever heard ! America's Got Talent will never hear a voice like Susan Boyles on their show.
Susan Boyle is amazing. And as a side note, we here in the US need shows like BGT here, or preferrably BGT should be shown here also. I hate AI but this show I'd watch every week to see/hear talent like I've viewed from this show. You guys rock!!!!!
Unbelievable....masterful...I'm almost a 60 year old man sitting here with tears in my eyes writing this. I want a ticket to her first concert.
Go Susan!!
We need surprises like this, because nowadays the looks count so much, and Susan looks very much like Golda Meir, the late Israeli PM.
I didn't know what to expect: Nick Zitsman or Paul Potts, so happy we got Potts this time =)
Amazing voice!!I almost cried watching her!! Reminded me of Paul Potts as well... hope she does well on the competition! I wish this was aired here in Brazil...
THIS. IS. AWESOME.
Now, this is what I watch TV Talent shows for - actual singing. Actual talent. UNpackaged artists. UNdiscovered, UNtrained talent.
I would watch BGT every week if we could air it here in the US.
I keep returning to the image of Piers swallowing, hard... and Simon's expression of genuine joy. Agree with all that Simon has "checked out" of AI for the most part, but his expression during Susan's performance was honest.
And this lady, Susan Boyle... I would bet she's never sung before an audience in a theater. Sure, she's done some singing to family but she's never even sung in her church choir! No one in her village had ever heard her sing before! The look on her face as she sang was one of total bliss, but she's not a seasoned performer. What kind of courage does it take to get yourself from your tiny Scottish village to a major city, and perform for the first (or one of your first) time in a theater at the age of "almost 48"? To stand before a theater full of people laughing at you??? And not only perform but bring the freaking house down??????
Ah, yes.
What a moment.
Thank you Rickey!!!
Awww, that was so beautiful. Thanks for posting this Rickey! I love that song, and Susan touched my heart with her performance. All the best to her.
She's great, n I never rate anyone before, but she's an exception.. plus plus plus all the way.. Will surely will this BGT to the end.. Hope she wins.. All cheer..
nugger: These are just the auditions. They aren't overproduced anymore than the AI auditions are. The big difference is that they are held before a live audience, and they show the reactions of people in the audience during the audition.
The hosts are a popular comedy team who were hired to make cheeky comments about the contestants. It may not be your cup of tea, but the Brits eat it up. After all, this is one of their biggest hit shows, and it airs on Saturday evening. We haven't had a hit on Saturday since Mary Tyler Moore and Carol Burnett went off the air.
Now this is what music is all about, one of the most stunning performances I've ever heard.
Wow, I thought that whole production was awful. She sang beautifully, but it was way over edited and produced. Why were the hosts talking during her song, and what's with the audience making faces at her, then they show the same people amazed and giving a standing o. I thought it was tacky and lame. Too bad, she deserved better. Thank goodness AI is live!
I agree with zinath. I guess I have a heart of stone since it didn't do anything for me. She's not bad, but not "fantastic" either.
after many years entertaining, finally someone who can sing and doesnt know it,usually people think they can but sound rotten. i hope she takes it all the way to the final and beyond.
Wow. Only in the UK. First Paul Potts, Andrew Johnston, now Susan Boyle.
I agree that BGT is far better than its American counterpart. They always get the unlikeliest contestants who give surprising performances. BRILLIANT!

Can someone also tell Paula Abdul that it's niche, NOT nitch! :)
Thank you for posting this Rickey! As a Brit and a avid follower of AI, I was shocked to see this posted here. I believe Susan has a massive career on the West End - with regards to Simon, I think he; along with others, is just bored of the predictability factor of AI and this woman was a total breath of unexpected fresh air. Another great act was Flawless:-

Can't wait for next week!
Couldn't you see her cast as "Mrs. Potts" in a stage version of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" or as Mother Superior in "The Sound of Music"?
BGT is definitely one of the best shows now...I had the privilege of watching the last season..and it was extraordinary...I wouldnt thought i would cry in a dance number...But thats how George did his routine..Amazing...Now Susan....Cheers guys.
wow! I love Amanda's and Simon's reaction. Their faces lit up the moment Susan started singing....Incredible...I think everyone was in awe and saying sorry to Susan for mocking her at the beginning. Classic example of dont judge the book by its cover...
On the lighter note...Amanda's armpit is hot....LOL
Wow and so beautiful!
Fir me, a bit reminiscent of Paul Potts audition the first year.

I love Amanda Holden (the lady judge) she always has her emotions on her sleeve. plus she's beautiful! look at her! Love you Rickey for posting!!
What a power! What a tenderness! What a softness! Really stunning. She singed her heart out, and we could feel she was giving it all. So pure and innocent. I miss this true feeling in the contemporary singers.
simply magical, i agree american idol lacks this type of moment...when they come it is so refreshing to see...
Britain's Got Talent has always been far superior to America's Got Talent. Check out years past on Youtube.com.
Connie Talbot, Paul Potts, and MANY more people who you wouldn't expect to shine just blew people away.
Loved it. One of my favorites songs from my favorite musical. Love to hear her play Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard.
To be honest, I think that someone who can sing like THAT deserves a standing ovation from ALL of the judges, not a certain OTHER from American Idol.
Susan was amazing regardless of her looks. that's a very hard song to sing. She looks like a really sweet funny person. I cant wait to hear more.
Once again, BGT proves itself a class act. Susan Boyle would not have made it on-air on AI. She has a beautiful voice, chose a perfect song and delivered it flawlessly. Piers swallowing hard and Simon cupping his face in his hands and sighing like an enraptured schoolboy put the icing on the cake. I am reminded of Norwegian singer Kurt Nilsen, who cleaned up on World Idol. He, too, reminded us that looks and talent have no connection whatsoever. Of course, all anyone needs to do is watch US TV to have that reconfirmed again and again and again. Lots of beauty; very little talent.
OMG!!!Simon looked like having an orgasm right there.American Idol should be like that, with outstanding talent, not just producer's manipulation and pimping everywhere.
I agree that Lil and Scott can never reach Susan Boyle in the talent department.
personally i don't think she's a fantastic singer. her story and looks (or lack of) are what makes her a fascinating character. once we get over that, and see her perform for a few more times (which she'll definitely do since the judges are obviously in love with her), i think we'll realise that she's not as great as she was hyped to be.
but i did get chills from that video, thanks rickey! :)
Thank God for the internet so we could be blessed enough to witness this moment. Chills, goosebumps all over. Unbelievable. Definitely a Paul Potts moment. I'm so happy for her!
I'm so glad to see that others felt the same way I did watching this clip..I am sitting here on this Easter morning crying my eyes out watching the joy on her face as she sings and watching the looks on the judges faces! I am a huge AI fan but I, like others on here, wished there were more "moments" like this on AI.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us Rickey!
I look forward to seeing how she does in this competition!
DaisyKay, you are so right. Now THAT is a singing contest.
To those who mentioned Paul Potts - I remember finding his video on YouTube and being completely transfixed. Just goes to show how important it is to look beyond the surface. We are so conditioned to dismiss those who don't fit media-created stereotypes.
The set-up for Susan's performance was, of course, designed for maximum emotional impact(this is TV after all), but still, it was genuinely stunning. I see from the comments I'm not the only one who watched it through tears. You go, girl!
Rickey, thank you.
