‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’ Results Shocker: Medical Emergency Nearly Derails Older Tribe

Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X delivered an episode that was exponentially more exciting than the season premiere last week, between the shocking tribal council result, and the medical emergency that nearly derailed the older tribe.

First and foremost, Gen X tribe member Paul had a scary moment when he suffered from what he feared was a heart attack. The medical team was brought in, and Dr. Joe performed a test to see if there was any damage to the heart. As with most medical evacuation moments, this was absolutely terrifying to see, as Paul was shaking and struggling to breathe, at points. However, Dr. Joe’s test revealed that there was no damage to the heart, and that Paul was simply suffering from the early stages of heat exhaustion. Not only was Paul ultimately able to remain in the game, he led his team to victory in the immunity challenge, an amazing come-from-behind win in a swimming/ring-tossing challenge. So it turns out that David, who found the hidden immunity idol AND formed a tight alliance with all-purpose provider Ken, could actually relax for once.

For their part, the Millennials had a lot of internal strife as they prepared for tribal council. Michaela called Figgy out for her romance with Taylor, as she overheard them kissing the night before. Michaela gets right up in Figgy’s face when she tries to mend fences before tribal, but it doesn’t appear to be working, since Michaela believes that Figgy and Taylor need to be broken up. However, there is an argument for Michaela to change her vote from Figgy to Mari, as Jay relays a rumor from Zeke that Michaela is next to go after Figgy. Throughout all this, Michelle is trying to get Hannah to change her vote to Mari in order to keep their numbers. It’s an insane tribal council that leads to a pretty shocking result.

MARI is eliminated from SURVIVOR: MILLENNIALS VS. GEN X!

On the one hand, I’ll miss Mari. I like her. She seems quirky, and could have grown into a fun character. On the other hand, she was really annoying here, between the “As a millennial confessionals” (which, in her defense, were probably prompted by the producers), her blissful lack of awareness of the game around her, and spending an inordinate amount of time talking about herself, which tells me her social game really wasn’t that strong. I guess what I’m saying is that while I’m disappointed that she’s wrong, I understand why she is.
