‘Survivor: Blood vs. Water’ twist revealed by Jeff Probst
In case the title of the season didn’t make things obvious enough, Survivor host Jeff Probst appeared on Entertainment Weekly’s new SiriusXM channel 105 to reveal the twist behind the upcoming 27th season of the venerable reality competition series.
“I think it’s okay to say that it is going to be family members,” said Probst of the next season’s cast. “And they’ll end up playing against each other.” However, the twist doesn’t end there. Yes, it’s another season of returning castaways, according to CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler, who tells EW that Survivor: Blood vs. Water will feature “the return of great characters and their relatives.”
So there ya have it. Memorable survivors competing against their own loved ones.
No cast list has been released just yet, but there are at least two spoiler lists floating around out there (the only reason I haven’t reported either of them is because there’s no way of verifying which list is accurate. Some names appear on both lists while some names conflict, so it’s really just too much of a hodgepodge to report, at the moment. That said, the season at least looks like it has the potential to be interesting, although I’m not entirely sold on the concept behind it just yet). The cast lists are hardly the only rumored items floating around online. Though unconfirmed, there are also rumblings of another past game mechanic returning for this season.
So what could it be? Exile Island? The Outcasts Tribe? Redemption Island? (Please God, no…)
I guess we’ll see this fall, when Survivor: Blood vs. Water premieres on CBS.
