Steven Tyler and Nicki Minaj trade jabs over American Idol panel

Don’t mess with Nicki Minaj nor her fellow judges on American Idol! Earlier today, an MTV article came out with Steven Tyler slamming the new American Idol judges saying they didn’t have camaraderie and Minaj would have sent Bob Dylan to the “cornfields.” OOPS.

Minaj blasted back like no one else could, just recently on Twitter.

“I know that they’ve got something going on on the judges’ panel, [and] it shouldn’t be that, it should be just the opposite: They should have something going on, which is called ‘camaraderie,’ ” he said. “They should have something going on so thick and beautiful that they can lay it over the new talent that’s trying to birth itself. It needs to be birthed, not judged by ‘entertainment’ factors, it needs to be judged by people that [are] honest, true, that have the ‘it’ factor. Not the ‘it’ factor because they can fight. The f— is that all about?”

“You just have to give your opinion. It wasn’t hard for me, but I would imagine it’s hard for some people, and they need a manager to say ‘Shut the f— up, and just give them your opinion,’ ” Tyler said. “These kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere and they’re in New York City, they’re scared to death; you’re not going to get the best [out of them]. … If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying.”

When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. Called a sell out. So what does he do? Ridicule the next judge.

While I don’t think Tyler is racist, I have to take somewhat offense to the “cornfields” comment. Looks like I’m siding with Ms. Minaj on this one.

Steven NEVER said anything racist... he just said that there were rumors that she was being HARSH. She is the one that assumed that the comment was racist, cause she never took the time to actually read or listen to what he said. As for the cornfields, it's because the town where Bob Dylan was born is basically a place that lives on agriculture, specially if you consider when he started out. I have no idea why it's offensive.

@Nantinha That's what I thought. Back to the cornfields is simply a reference to being from the midwest. NO big deal. Cottonfields would have been racist.
