The newest Star Wars trilogy is set to begin production soon for its 2015 release. That means getting a move-on with the casting process.
Apparently, director J.J. Abrams and company are doing just that, as the casting notices being sent to agents throughout Hollywood have leaked. Looks like they’re going for a mostly young, mostly beautiful cast. Granted, this isn’t that much different from the original, 1977 release, which made Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford household names. Hopefully, they stick with unknowns, for the most part, as a means of reinventing the franchise with fresh faces. Lord knows, having recognizable faces did the prequels no favors (although the cast was probably third on the list of what was wrong with those movies).
Check out the full list below via AV Club:
Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.
Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.
A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.
Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’t need to be particularly fit.
A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.
Forty something male, fit, military type.
Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.
Looks like the story is following a similar structure to the precious entries in the series, with the first four roles sounding a lot like off-shoots of Leia, Luke, Han Solo and Obi-Wan in the Original Trilogy. Should be an interesting compare-and-contrast.
