Ryan Murphy Reveals First Look + Details From ‘Scream Queens’ (PHOTOS)

Glee and American Horror Story creator (yes, same person) Ryan Murphy has been pretty scarce with details about his new Fox horror comedy series Scream Queens. Until now.

Murphy recently dished about the plot, cast members Nick Jonas and Ariana Grande and even shared plenty of photos from the set.

As he explained to Entertainment Weekly, the series basically boils down to this: it’s “Heathers meets Friday the 13th” with “early-to-late ’80s exploitation horror” set at a college sorority.

Murphy would go on to elaborate that the series is a “murder mystery whodunit” where everyone is a suspect and anyone can die.

Said Murphy, “It opens in a flashback to 1995 at the sorority where something horrible happens. It’s a mystery that goes unsolved. Flash forward 20 years to today, and it looks like someone is out for revenge. Something horrible happened to a pledge and on the anniversary of that crime, someone is out for vengeance.”

“It’s different than Horror Story … In horror movies, particularly in that era, there was always the last girl, the final girl. So we’re playing with that. Whoever survives—and there will be people who will survive—they will go on next season to a new location and a new terror.”

In addition to legendary scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis (who plays the college dean), the all star cast is made up of Emma Roberts (president of the Kappa Sorority), Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Oliver Hudson, Abigail Breslin, Nick Jonas (a popular golfing fraternity member) and Ariana Grande.

Scream Queens will hit a television near you in September — you can check out more on set photos below.
