Scott Weiland Died of Accidental Overdose Says Medical Examiner

Officials have confirmed that Scott Weiland — former lead singer for the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver — died of a drug overdose in early December.

According to medical reports, the 48-year-old musician passed away due to a combination of cocaine, alcohol and MDA.

His history of cardiovascular disease, asthma and substance dependence were also listed as contributing factors.

Weiland is survived by his wife Jamie Wachtel and two children with ex-wife Mary Forsberg Weiland: 15-year-old Noah and Lucy, 13.

“The outpouring of condolences and prayers offered to our children, Noah and Lucy, has been overwhelming, appreciated and even comforting,” Mary said in a recent Rolling Stone piece. “But the truth is, like so many other kids, they lost their father years ago. What they truly lost on December 3rd was hope.”
