Scarlett Johansson, Taylor Swift, Lea Michele and Evan Rachel Wood are all in the running for the role of Eponine in the Les Miserables film from Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper according to the NY Post. I hope Scarlett says yes — although Taylor Swift might be a good choice too.
But Anne Hathaway as Fantine? No. Read the report:
The cast of Tom Hooper’s big-screen adaptation of Les Miserables has been impressive so far: Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe will play dueling leads Jean Valjean and Javert, Anne Hathaway is set for Fantine, Eddie Redmayne has been added as Marius, and Helena Bonham Carter is said to be circling the role of Madame Thenardier. But what of sad little waif Eponine, who sings the musical’s most plaintive ballad, “On My Own”? Well, the New York Post claims to know four big-name contenders vying for the role, and they include Scarlett Johansson, Evan Rachel Wood, Lea Michele (who performed in the Broadway version of Les Miz as a little girl), and Taylor Swift.
