Sawyer Fredericks wins The Voice 8 (VIDEO)
Sawyer Fredericks has won The Voice 8! The young, folksy crooner from Team Pharrell Williams was crowned the Season 8 champion on the live, two-hour season finale, defeating finalists Meghan Linsey from Team Blake, who finished in 2nd place; Joshua Davis from Team Adam, who finished in third place; and fellow Team Pharrell teammate Koryn Hawthorne, who finished fourth.
This not only stands as a major achievement for the 17-year-old New York native, it also marks the very first Voice win for coach Pharrell Williams, who went from being the first coach knocked out the competition last season, to becoming the winning coach this season. Blake Shelton and Adam Levine were the other two coaches competing for the title, while Christina Aguilera just barely missed out, as her last contestant was eliminated in the semi-finals.

After the victory, Fredericks performed his winner’s single, “Please”, which was written for him by his idol, Ray LaMontagne. The song charted at #2 on iTunes last night, and the window is now open for the single to coast to the very top of the charts on the strength of this finale win.
