Sasha Mallory and Kent Boyd – Contemporary – So You Think You Can Dance

Sasha Mallory and Kent Boyd dance Contemporary on So You Think You Can Dance
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Music: Fool of Me
Judging:
Lil C – I’m trying not to cry. (He cries!) That portal that you dance to, I understand it. You are phenomenal.
Christina Applegate – You put your finger against the wall and you break my heart. That’s dance. Something has hurt you and thank you for sharing that with us. You were just sitting there – and you made me shake.
Mary Murphy – That was absolutely intoxicating. So many of us have been there and it’s what you do when you get back up. Everything was so dynamic and artistic.
Nigel Lythgoe – Tyce Diorio at his absolute best in this routine.

As a Sasha fan I could care less if you didn't have a connection with her. A lot of people only saying that because they want Melanie to win and trying to knock her for the talent and STRENGH that she have. Remember early on Last year most people ( mainly girls ) was all over Kent. He was the Highest vote getter for most of the season, but my fav was Lauren. This year WILL be the same Melanie is this years Kent and Sasha is this years Lauren. Lauren eased in and won it towards the final 2-3 weeks. Sasha I know has had the highest votes for atleast past 2 weeks. You wait and see, SASHA WILL WIN THIS.....
For those of you who doesn't understand Sasha or didn't feel the connection when she danced in earlier routines, this is my response to you. No you didn't feel the connection but it because she was dancing it was her partners. It's like when you have a flashlight and you have a new battery, which is stronger and more power and a used battery with not much juice, the flash light won't shine as bright unless you get another new battery. Notice when Sasha first dance with Twitched, the routine was AWESOME! In other words her earlier partners which also was competitors, they wasn't at Sasha level and it showed. But every all star partner she had even Pash she was awesome at. Melonie and Sasha runs in a different class of dance. And remember we only saw Melonie in only the routines that she most comfortable in. I would like to see her Wacking and listen to you guys comments then. But all and all I get where you all coming from I would have been there to if I didn't know what I know.
Sasha Fierce! She is from my hometown of Bakersfield CA. Most emotional dancer ever on the show. If she can make Little C cry - then she has done her job. Anyways - she blows away the competition. I am hoping she wins but I know how the voting goes - they praise her and Nigel calls her his favorite dancer - that doesn't mean she will win. It will probably be Melanie. Melanie is not as smooth as Sasha as was evident in their number last week. Good luck to all but pulling for my hometown girl!v :)
I agree its' the best cast ever Ricky, but we like hearing YOUR opinion, and we don't want you to be Paula, or Ellen, or someone that sugar coats everything and says everyone is "amazing" CLEARLY some of these dances were not as great as the others were... Melanie's hip hop was lacking, Rickey is great but starting to get outdanced week after week...
I love watching Sasha dance!
She is the most "talented" on the show.
Please note, talented requires more than technique!
First....Sasha has both technique, emotional giving and she is beautiful...and fun...How on Earth can you watch this and not be moved. I like Melanie...but Melanie has not done anything but, contemporary, jazz and broadway the whole show...all styles she can easily do...I do not get this...if they pull from a hat...the laws of chance are against this...Sasha has done broadway, contemporary, hip hop, fox trot, wacking...which I found ok...but not dancers fault..very odd dance style that few are familiar with...So in terms of being able to handle a variety of dance...Sasha has proved she can...And Melanie pulls her face a lot....judges somehow do not catch it or choose not to discuss...I love both of these dancers...The two of them should make finals if all is right in the world. Way to go Sasha!!
I love Sasha. She is what dancing is all about. She has passion, she's beautiful, she moves effortlessly. I love love love her. It's about time someone like Sasha gets to the finals. Quite frankly, I am tired of seeing all of these girls who hide behind their hair flopping around. Sasha can hide nothing, you see everything and it's absolutely wonderful. I am loving this season. I typically don't watch the show because i am bored with the cookie-cutter, not so great choices. I'm watching this season because of Sasha. Period.
From the beginning, I've read some pretty MEAN things about Sasha and I just didn't get the rationale behind the comments. I'M not moved by every dancer/dance; however, even those that I'm not too keen on have my support when they show their hearts on that stage. In MY opionion, Sasha HAS done that most consistently of the dancers. SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL, HEART-FELT, DANCER/EXPRESSIONIST! And that really is a great portion of why people seem mesmerized by her. Technique is NOT everything. But when you have a combo of technique coupled with soul, that's special, and THAT IS Sasha!
To me, it was exceptional. Both dancers used all their emotions and skills to pull off this excellent number. But of course I have to say that seeing Kent dance again was worth spending 2 hours to watch this show. He just touches me in a special way and I have missed watching him dance. Tonight he will perform again and I cannot wait.
You seem less invested in SYTYCD this year Ricky... with every video you post "amazing!" "incredible" "unbelievable!" lol
Agreed!!! We respect and listen to your opinion Rickey so please stop saying all the routines are amazing in capital letters (even though most of them are)
Love this dance tho- Love Sasha (and Kent)
reminds me a bit of the Travis Wall dance by Kent and Neil
LOL. The judges use these words on the show all time for every single contestant so why can't I?
This is the most amazing, most talented season of So You Think You Can Dance ever! It's so difficult to choose who will leave because they are just so talented this season unlike previous seasons! This is the most brilliant group of dancers ever assembled on this show! It's just unbelievable! Remarkable! Incredible! Genius!
:)
I didn't quite get it. I've never really felt anything from Sasha. It was a little ironic that last season I had the same feeling about Kent and when he performed to Sun Drenched World (and kinda showed some emotion) I thought, too little, too late. Same here. I also thought the song was a little bland - sort of one level throughout the whole thing. The (use of the) wall was the best thing about the routine.
I'm a bit relieved to read that someone else doesn't completely respond to Sasha. I don't feel much from her, either. Figured it was just me. The only routine that I felt something from her was the lyrical hip hop routine with Twitch from a few weeks ago. I think she's a fine dancer, don't get me wrong. I guess, in the end, we all respond to dancers just as we do to fine art paintings and sculptures -- what speaks to me doesn't necessarily speak to you -- we all are drawn toward different things. I feel Melanie's pull and Marko's pull. That's just me... and who I am, what my life has been like, and how I emotionally respond to someone. A lot like who we fall in love with, eh?
Thank God, different strokes for different folks!
It probably requires a certain maturity level to understand this dance.
I thnk this dance was the best, for the night!
I agree with you guys. I never really felt a connection with Sasha. Now don't get me wrong. I think she is a good dancer. She has a lot of strength, but I think my main problem with her is that she never shows her soft side. She's always fierce, but never vulnerable. Tonight, she tried that, but like the earlier poster mentioned, I think it's too late. I also think her solos are disappointing. For someone who dances so strong in their performances, she never seems to give it her all when it comes to the solos (remember the first time she was in the bottom?).

Good things fans like me exists, I am not a big fan of her and her placing runner-up , I felt Marko should have had her place had Mr Lythgoe not Made that stupid remark about the boys in which mentally conditioned voters, I guess the reason why he apologized was because even he himself was shocked of how small the numbers Tadd and Marko pulled and the only perpetrator of such phenomenon was him, any w going back to sasha . Sometimes when she talks it comes across as not genuine, her sister is more relate-able than her and definitely she is not better than Melanie or even Marko. her journey in so you think can dance is far beyond little compare to Tadd. I'm getting tired of fans of Sasha in full defense of her being the "should be champion". look closer when the winner was announced in all 8 season's of SYTYCD I think sasha's face is to be noted as the most disappointed runner-up
