Sanjaya Malakar — You Really Got Me

Those of you who are saying he's horrible clearly do not know what the word "MUSIC" is. Have any of you haters ever heard of Creed? Or Metallica? Or Quiet Riot?

Sanjaya is Horrible with a capital H. Someone who dresses up crazy, has a bad hair day like him every week, can't sing (!!!), sticks his tongue out every chance he gets CANNOT BE an american IDOL. I'm amazed he's still here. Maybe because of all the 12-year old girls in America. *rolling eyes*

I'm sorry I didn't hear some of the words good before I posted the video. Some of the words are just plain mean but most of it was just funny and cute. I'm a big Sanjaya fan because I know that this kid can really sing good, he just has no confidence but with Simon being there how could he.

Sorry Rickey and Sanjaya lovers for the couple of sentences in this video that are bad. My daughter told me this is so cute and funny but we clearly couldn't hear the mean nasty part. I only heard them when I tried the posted link.

For all you Sanjaya haters you have to listen to Salaya singing Sweet Chariot. He sounds so great, Rickey has the video of it. It's even better than his audition. This kid can really sing.

in the beginning i thought sanjaya was cool and i kinda made fun of him. but now this is just ridiculous! if people keep on voting for him then there wont be any more american idol. wow..the people controlling the show will bump off sanjaya if its going to ruin the shows future..

I LOVE, LOVE this kid, I dont know why everyone is so hard on him...I have heard the judges say..step it up to keep up with the others,,the others like who? Melinda..ok she can sing, but is she your idol?..do you aspire to be like her?...no. Look this isnt a singing competetion like they say..everyone has said it,,its a popularity contest..and Sanjaya he can sing, and he is obviously very popular, he has a great future and I wish him all the best, GO SANJAYA !!!!!

Sanjaya impressed me he was a lil sexy and a lil cute minus that section of screaming in the middle of the song.I think the girls/teens love him and wanna see him on tour that's why he just may stay despite his performance.Sanjaya is just a nice kid,but he knows he's not as good as the others.Thanks to Mommydog that posted the choir link I enjoyed it,thanks.

Sanjaya is so bad that it just looks ridiculous for the judges to even seriously critique him anymore. I am sure they realize that it is their fault that this substandard performer is even in the contest.

Every year there is an awful performer that people think is cute and that AI pimps for ratings. What happens to them after the show? You never hear from the "cute" non-singers again.

It is a shame that those of you who claim to love him so much choose to make a mockery out of this kid.

Okay Rickey, so i listened to it again on your mp3 and lol...it's just too funny! I'm not sure what to think here...it WAS better than the other weeks, but sounded like he was trying to put all his past faults and bad performance into just THIS one performance! and Honestly, comes out sounding like ADAM SANDLER singing in the movie, The WEDDING SINGER! lol...that's what he sounded like to me without watching his performance but just listening! Ah, he'll be around at least for the Top 10 and who knows...I still think he doesn't belong there...but he was amuzing and entertaining last night, i'll give him that!

He really got me last night! That was hot. I was looking at this kid in a whole different way. I'm with you, #47, Jo. Loved seeing my boy lay it out. Most entertaining performance all season. Sanjaya's my main reason for watching this season. He goes on tour, I'll actually buy tickets this year and take my daughter and her friends. Last night they did not cry but they were jumping around screaming when he was on! One of the little gals yelled out, shocking me, "He's a sexy Mo Fo!" Her words. Mo Fo. LOL.

Half through the song, my thought was: "Sanjaya really doesn't want to go to the Summer Tour. He is sick of the circus around him, and he wants to be be voted off".

The little girl cried because clearly, she was shaken to see the guy that she adores so upclose.

The only thing worse than being talked about..is not being talked about.

Bottom line, Sanjaya and Haley will make the top ten. Why, not because they are great singers but the fact that they are very popular and that to the producers is money come concert time.

Therefore, at the expense of one of the better singers both will make the top ten!

And that performance was funny and pitiful!!

In response to Mommydog, Taylor Hicks may have won the competition on being entertaining; but he can't sell albums. Most of the runner-ups from last year are doing better than him. Also, they made it seem like the girl was only crying for Sanjaya; she was probably crying throughout the whole show. I saw her crying at the beginning and I think I saw her crying during LaKisha's performance.

This kid is a total joke. All I hear from other people is what a joke American Idol is because of Sanjaya still being on the show. I've definitely lost all musical respect for Rickey, he surely is tone deaf and does not recognize talent or lack of. It is a shame that Rickey and others just want to torture the poor kid by getting him in the top 10. Why would you want to get someone who 'can' sing voted off the show, just to get Sanjaya in the top 10 ...and then you plan on abandoning him. I love your site Rickey, but I must say you are doing the worst thing for Sanjaya ...you are helping make him the biggest laughing stock in American Idol history. Why don't you think about what he is going to have to deal with after he 'Finally' gets off the show. Rickey and others, you really need to GET SOME RESPECT for Sanjaya and quit making him suffer and be the biggest joke in American Idol.

To me, his performance tonight was remiscent of a young Jim Morrison of the Doors. Grant it, Melinda Dolittle is clearly a better singer than either Jim Morrison or Sanjaya and should win the competition, barring race coming up as an issue as I've read in past AIs. Having said that, I would much rather see Sanjaya in concert as I think he has the greatest potential to rock the house.

He clearly has a different look and a voice which both seem to attract teenie bopper girls. And we all know what teenie bopper girls did for the just okay movie "The Titanic".

I've never seen a full episode of AI, and yet this Sanjaya controversy has drawn me in. I will definitely check out Sanjaya's perfomance next week.

Weird. For a contestant that is panned left and right, Sanjaya's threads sure do get a lot of message traffic! Almost always the most, esp. on performance night.

Not that I am a fan but I couldn't help but imagine Rickey's screams and cheers when Sanjaya hit the floor to sing YOU REALLY GOT ME.

it's good to finally see him letting loose, having fun and really singing and feeling the song. rickey, i do believe that you are so ecstatic tonight after his performance...probably shedding tears of joy as well. =) aside from melinda's and jordin's, i also await his performance every week. if he sang like this last week, it really would've sounded better (especially since that song was one of my favorites as well.)

oh c'mon all you indignant folk! Is there really any difference from people voting for this boy-toy-child and people voting for Haley "shake yer tatas at us"?
Frankly, as long as he sings deeply and loudly like tonight, I much prefer Sanjaya! When he actually sings deeply and projects he has a nice voice ... it's just the whispery crap that I hate. But more than that I hate a woman parading around in short shorts and all loosey goosey ... actually I find that much more annoying than anything Sanjay could do.

Horrible!!!! It was just horrible! If you listen to every performer w/out the video, the talent (or lack there of) comes out! And though Sanjaya may have had a more volume this week... it sounded like somebody turned up the stereo in a 1984 Chevy Caprice Classic w/ blown speakers. Simply dreadful. His presence on stage is, in my opinion, and INSULT to each and every one of the other performers who, at the very least, are MILES ahead of Sandjaya in basic singing ability. He should just LEAVE. Amnit he is out of his league and walk off the stage.

poor kid, he's kept for another week so people can make a fool out of him. that sounded like a cat trying to be tiger. very ambitious, but it didn't work out for me.

Still wish the better singers survive him but they all won't.
He and Weepy Girl got me pondering why pubescent girls get so ga-ga over feminine type guys. I did too at that age. Any adolescent psychologists out there?

He may be a nice guy...but he is not American Idol material. How about voting for someone who actually has more talent than what you could find in any small town choir.

I'm not a Sanjaya fan and thought his performance tonight was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on Idol. However, I loved that his performance was basically a big F-you to Simon. He was totally uninhibited, like he didn't give a damn about what anyone, especially his detractors, thought about him. It was, as Pickler wouldn't understand, a ballsy performance. He had my vote tonight.

I read on another site that the girl is a "Make-A-Wish" kid, so, if that's true, she's got some sort of terminal disease and her dying wish was to go see American Idol. (If you watched the audience throughout the show she was crying long before Sanjaya came on & again after.)

It was sweet of Sanjaya to hug her.

Well, despite what I thought would be a train wreck of epic proportions, Sanjaya stepped up and delivered tonight. Didn't even make my bottom 3. Sorry, RICKEY, I didn't vote for him, but I was mightily impressed.

Well, I think it goes to show what some positive feedback and coaching can do for these singers. Almost everyone sounded better, but our little Sanjaya reigned! Shanti!

The boy was phenomenal tonight! This is what we've been waiting for!!!!! I'm so proud of our pretty rocker boy!!!! Freakin' AWESOME!!!!! Haters can now shut their stupid faces. He rocked the house, he was AMAZING! Deal with it.

donna, i agree. tonight the young man showed us some power gain to his vocals as well as the energy. true, it was pitchy on some parts, but what the heck, so were the kinks some 40 years ago! LOL! he seemed to be having fun as well, and that's more important. hopefully, he'll get to combine all the positive aspects we've seen in him up to tonight and present an even better performance next week.... and make rickey even happier!! :D
