Sammy Sosa – Skin Bleach – Has Steroid Use Lightened His Skin?
Former baseball player Sammy Sosa with his wife Sonia Sosa at the 2009 Person of the Year Honoring Juan Gabriel at the Latin Grammys in Las Vegas.
Did he bleach his skin? The picture at the bottom is how he looked like just last May 2009. The Huffington Post says that there is some evidence linking steroid use to vitiligo — a condition Michael Jackson had which made him look white over time.
Omigosh, I’m so freaked out by this. Sammy Sosa now has light skin!
Got Something to Add?
Sammy Sosa wants to be white. Just like many people around the world do. It's called colonial mentality. This is due to the fact that our global society has been bombarded with white values, white religious images, white media propaganda, nd brainwashed in a whitewashed world that has been dominated by european culture for the last 400+ years of colonialism and imperialism.
I highly recommend this documentary video titled 'Modern Racist Paradigm'. Do a google search on it. MODERN RACIST PARADIGM.
Here, I'll even give some links in case you're too lazy lol:
I don't see the big deal even if he did bleach his skin for purely cosmetic reasons. Anytime a white (or other) person wants to be darker, it's perfectly OK (newsflash, darkening of the skin is not particularly healthy, no matter what shade you are). But when a dark person actually WANTS to be LIGHTER, there's something wrong with that.
I see nothing wrong with it. As long as a person is doing it in a safe way that's not going to cause serious harm to their health. You know, some people want lighter skin, others want darker. Some people want straight hair so they buy a flat iron. Some people want curly hair so they buy a perm or a curling iron. Some people want green eyes so they buy contacts. Some people want red hair, so they buy some dye. You only have one life, I don't see why you can't live it looking and feeling how you want to!
Any time a dark person looks lighter, people have an issue with it. I call racism. I call bullsh**.
The NYPOST is reporting that he's going through a "skin" rejuvenation, which means a peel or dermabrasion....and that makes sense, esp if his skin evens out and goes back to black....we shall see.
I find it interesting that the difference is connected to steroids when Sammy hasn't been using for a few years. Yeah, he was into it maybe 5 years ago, but now that he's pretty much out of baseball I doubt he'd keep it up. I can see the skin bleaching, Sammy was always for making Sammy look good. And if you check out a time progression series of photos, you see he has just about matched his wife's complexion.

I thought MJ's autopsy said evidence of skin bleaching and didn't they say before that he did that because he wanted to unify the pigment from the vitiligo?
To kassandra, thanks for working Adam Lambert in. eyeroll. Are you an Adam Lambert fan? After all, Glamberts are the ones blamed for trolling Rickey's and monopolizing the site with Adam banter.
I just noticed the wife and the boobs. They must be in the market for a reality show or something; do you think?
Like Kassandra I have a problem with celebs changing their looks radically, that's why I couldn't get with MJ....he went to the extreme. Over time you get used to it, but you always remember how they looked "before."
It's possible that Sammi had a skin condition....or it could be that he wanted to look like his wife (white)....He's Dominican, and Dominicans look down on "colored" people, even their own. It's the same in Mexico with the dark skinned Mexicans and the Asian Indians; Everybody should see the movie Mississippi Massala with Denzel to see how that works in India.
This is sad if it's not a skin condition and it's voluntary. But over time people will get used to it.
Is he trying to get back in baseball? or TV or something?
I'm not saying he's a singer, just to make that clear :) I think it's disturbing how much celebrities change their appearance through artificail means, including photoshop. Adam Lambert is a great example of that. None of his stupid fans notice that he's butt ugly and fat in his real life red carpet pics.
This is not new. So many singers bleach their skin. Beyonce has been doing that since she was a child, long before the L'Oreal scandal. I was watching a "Before They Were Famous" or whatever type show on either E! or VH1, and a friend pointed out how dark she was at the age of ten or twelve. The video was of her in the broad daylight, and she was quite dark, much darker than when she first became known. I guess the African American stage parent kit comes with skin bleach as well.
His skin color is definitely not natural in that bottom picture.
So, if it is happening, it has been happening for awhile. He just didn't cover it up, or stopped all together.
