Roseanne Barr is making her return to sitcoms.

The comedienne has signed a deal with NBC and Universal TV to develop a comedy series which she would not only executive produce (alongside Steven Greener), but also star in. Although this will be her first starring role in a comedy series since Roseanne left the air in 1997, Barr hasn’t been a stranger to sitcoms. Barr is currently doing a three-episode arc on the final season of The Office, where she will play Carla Fern, a talent agent who agrees to help office manager Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) realize his showbiz dreams. Filming of her episodes is set to begin this week.

In addition, Barr developed a multi-camera comedy pilot last season with 20th TV, titled Downwardly Mobile, which landed at NBC. Barr and producing partner Greener previously collaborated on the Lifetime reality series Roseanne’s Nuts. Hopefully this upcoming sitcom isn’t as low-brow. But I’m not going to lose consciousness holding my breath.
