I didn't enjoy this dance routine. It was too feminine for male dancers. I agree with an earlier poster that the BEST Bollywood routine was performed by Joshua and Katee.

I don't think Robert outdanced Billy in this. I do think Robert looked more natural doing an Indian dance, because of his coloring - I'm not being discriminatory, I'm just stating it as it is.
It really is a matter of personal preference. Robert's movements were more powerful, but were also a bit sloppier than Billy's in regards to flowing and staying with the beat. Billy was on top of every move every time (with the exception of one turn, but that seemed to be because he had to stop himself very suddenly with his right leg, which is hurt), while it seemed like Robert was a bit clumsy at some parts. I also think Billy's movements are just naturally smoother than Robert's, and that translated into this dance a lot.
And this article seems a bit... biased. Toni liked Robert more, yes, but Mia liked Billy more - which you didn't mention.

Not sure if it was because of the outfit, or because he is bigger physically, but I couldnt take my eyes off of Robert. I think it really helped here that he has long limbs, so his movements were very eye-catching. Plus his expressions really added to his performance.

Unfortunately, Billy just sort of blended into the background.

As an Indian folk dancer, and rabid Billy fan, I have to day he did pretty damn well.

In this particular number, though - Robert more fully embraced the joyful quality of movement that is part of what makes Bollywood dance numbers work.

The tiny inflections are what can make or break a Bollywood piece - and it was actually quite nice to see a different quality of movement from the two of them - especially with the continuity of the story being two actors vying for one part. They both have a different style...and I kind of prefer to see each dancer interpret their choreography in slightly different ways - you see them shining through, not just somebody dancing steps that somebody else thought up.

Hurt or not, Billy is a technician when it comes to details. His hands and feet were wonderful and his movement was crispy and balanced.
I liked Billy's solo too. He is a mature dancer in spite of his little boy persona.

While I may have enjoyed male-female pairings in this dance style a bit more than this male-male dance, I think this was the most difficult Bollywood routine on SYTYCD - and they did great in showing control and synchronicity. I give a slight edge to Robert.

they were both phenom. I think neither are Bollywood dancers, which is CLEAR. But i thought the partnership was magic. They have very different styles and though I technically prefer Robert's style (i guess that means I prefer hamburgers), there's no denying Billy's immense skill.

The buildup towards the climax of the routine felt forever getting there that when it finally got there I didn't care anymore. Nothing tops Katee and Joshua's bollywood

Altho I am not fond of Bollywood as a dance form, it's clear here that Robert was hitting his movements with power and precision while Billy did his in a softer manner. I don't know how to judge Bollywood so have no idea who did it better but I must say I was watching Robert more than I was Billy.

When a guy and girl are dancing, you see them as a pair. When you have 2 same sex partners, you really can't help but compare the 2.

But Robert winning? Really? Personally, I feel he's competing for 4th place. I think Kent has solidified 1st. And I think Lauren and Billy will be battling for 2nd and 3rd (this assuming of course that the judges get their wish and Jose and Adechike are in the bottom tomorrow).

Meh! This was terrible for me... sorry, it felt empty to me.

In fact, I feel that the only time a Bollywood number was done correctly was with Katee and Joshua. No one in Season 5, 6 and 7 has done a good Bollywood number since.

Why are people watching these routines with their focus on who is outdancing the other? The performance is a partnership and achieves its potential when viewed as a whole entity. Both dancers excelled!
The enjoyment of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers was thankfully not undermined by raising one up at the expense of the other.
I realize this is a competition but why crush young dancers with comparisons to each other when comments may be addressed individually?

Robert just looks like he is East Indian here because of his coloring. So it seems natural in a way for him to look good dancing Bollywood.. sometimes I forgot he wasn't an Indian dude. Billy is obvious a white boy..He did a great job and I hope he remains in the competition. The judges sabotaged Ade enough to get rid of him tomorrow. Gosh I think I'm done after this season. No Mary= No Fun

exactly... Robert was hitting the accents powerfully, and Billy seemed too delicate, feminine even. in comparison. Billy wasn't jumping much and didn't have the same joy on his face... is his knee still bothering him? Makes me think yes

May as well throw my hat in this as well, Katee and Joshua's Bolly was one to be reckoned with for excitement value, Caitlin and Jason's Bolly was good too with a great power move by Caitlin and a Good story as well. However no matter how much I might dislike these dancers personalities (and believe me I do) I have to admit Mollee and Nathan's Molleewood (bleh) was danced the best for me with a good mix of precision, energy and a great 14 rotation pirouette a la second with a full stop facing forward on one leg while balancing the other on the knee in demi plie... as far as I can remember only one other dancer pulled off that many rotations without a step in between (Danny Tidwell) and that was not in a choreographed routine it was during a solo. Yes, there were some theatrics in the beginning of the routine which depending on who you are you could take it or leave it, however looking at the dancing objectively (wished for mollee's elimination every week...soooo annoying) I have to say the bar was raised. BTW i think Nick Lazarrini may have done about a 12 rotation during his season.

Na I agree that Katee and Joshua did the best Bollywood number (not just because they were the first)

Caitlin and Jason Glover's Bollywood from Season V was Epic!!! While I enjoyed Katee I found the Joshua with his THICK waist so unpleasant to watch dance!

How can you not make comparisons in this type of dancing where it is not "partner" dancing as such. This is an individual competition after all and the solos alone dont provide a good comparison as to who is the best dancer which is why sytycd exists
