Robbie Carrico — Audition — American Idol 7

Robbie Carrico

Robbie Carrico, 25, Melbourne, FL auditions in Miami, FL for American Idol 7

In 2000, Robbie Carrico was a member of Boyz-N-Girlz United, a boyband which toured with Britney Spears in Europe. In fairness, the show was upfront about this. Yay!

I like this guy, and I'm excited this is the year of the rocker. I just wish they would have put some more country guys through, too. Yeah, I'm still complaining about that! :)

Izzy ~ Plausible (not necessarily true) explanations: (1) someone in the room has an earpiece on and can hear Ryan who could say something like (they're going to spray him with confetti when he comes out here) who says something to the judges about it. (2) Ryan definitely has an earpiece on to know if it was a "yes" or "no", so he could obviously tell the family or the family could probably hear the judges saying "yes" outside. (3) The contestants may be required to tell someone affiliated with the show what their audition song is going to be, and the judges are then told. That doesn't seem "scripted" to me. I guess I referred to your comments out of order, but I think I touched on them all.

I noticed all that too Izzy. I have thought tht each season the show got more and more scripted, right till the final shows anyway.

Here's how you know this show is totally scripted and fixed.

1: Paula says TAKE YOUR TIME, TAKE A DEEP BREATH and Robbie goes into song beginning with "Take your time" as the lyric. Even the kid laughed like he knew how plotted it all was.

2: HOW in the world would Randy know they were spraying the contestant with Silly String OUTSIDE the room (Randi calls it confetti). How would he have seen? All he should have heard was cheering. (And didn't the family outside start spraying a little too soon-- how did they know Robbie had made it to Hollywood before he opened the door?)

I know. There are bigger problems in this life. But stuff like this shows why American Idol is not the random talent show they pretend it is.

Not that I don't love the show. I still do!

I really liked Robbie, he has a really nice sound to his voice.

I'm glad to hear that he's in the top 24 and thanks for the video clip Rickey.
