After word of the renewals of Californication, House of Lies, and Shameless came through, news of two more renewals were quick to follow.
Ripper Street, a co-production of BBC America and BBC One in Britain, stars Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg as investigators in Victorian England, in pursuit of Jack the Ripper, six months after his last unsolved slaying. The second season looks to move from 1889 into the 1890s.
Meanwhile, Banshee, the Cinemax series executive produced by True Blood creator Alan Ball, stars Antony Starr as an ex-con and thief who moves to the town of Banshee, Pennsylvania, assuming the identity of the town sheriff while continuing his criminal activities while battling against criminals he deceived in the past.
The two series perform well for their networks in their respective timeslots, and are part of a TV season that is seeing an encouraging number of renewals, as the networks begin preparing for next season.
