‘Reality Check’: ‘The Voice’ Results Injustices, ‘American Idol XIV’ Top 3 Predictions (VIDEO)

TVLine.com‘s resident reality TV expert Michael Slezak is back with American Idol 6 finalist Melinda Doolittle for an all-new episode of Reality Check, as the duo takes a look into the highs and lows of the week for American Idol XIV and The Voice 8!

This week, Michael and Melinda actually start out on The Voice! Which contestant delivered “one of the best performances I’ve ever seen on reality singing competitions anywhere”? Who sickens Michael with how good she is? And what were the two greatest injustices of the live playoffs results show? As for American Idol, what is it about Clark that is keeping Michael from fully getting into him? Melinda offers up a fairly solid explanation for what the problem might be, and yet, I feel it’s an explanation that applies FAR more to Quentin than it does to Clark. But that’s not where the debates end, as they make their Top 3 predictions (with some significant cheats), and get into a heated debate over Quentin Alexander, while also dissecting why Joey Cook’s version of “Wrecking Ball” didn’t exactly work. This is another fascinating episode, as Michael and Melinda are getting down to the nitty-gritty in exploring who has the potential to go all the way in both singing competitions this season. Once again, this show has me recognizing just how good both Idol and The Voice are this season, particularly since they’re both giving Michael and Melinda so much to talk about. Hell, there’s so much to talk about that there are significant issues they never even get around to this week (such as Qaasim’s elimination or Melinda’s good friend Rayvon once again landing in the Bottom 2). Reality Check is at its best when at its busiest, so you’re in for a good one regardless.
