‘Reality Check’: Is Joey Cook In Danger of a 9th Place Finish on ‘American Idol XIV’?

TVLine.com‘s resident reality TV expert Michael Slezak is back with American Idol 6 finalist Melinda Doolittle for an all-new episode of Reality Check, as the duo takes a look into the highs and lows of the week for American Idol XIV and The Voice 8!

This week, Michael and Melinda discuss a mixed bag week on American Idol XIV, as some of the former frontrunners of this season fell by the wayside. For one, Rayvon Owen got an absolutely nightmarish edit that made him seem like someone who didn’t feel like listening to constructive criticism, while Joey Cook delivered a performance that Michael feels could have had some fans leaving her bandwagon in droves. But is Joey Cook in danger of a 9th place finish? Could she actually go home after her performance of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”? Michael is absolutely horrified by the prospect, but acknowledges it’s a very real possibility, considering how this season has played out so far (with iffy vocals being penalized, regardless of past excellence). Frankly, it’s a possibility that terrifies me as well. But the week wasn’t entirely dismal, as we got some great performances, and some stellar Knockouts over on The Voice. In short, Michael and Melinda have a LOT to talk about. It’s another fun, insightful episode, as always!
