Ratings: The Voice up 13% from last week

Update: The Voice was adjusted up to 6.2 adult rating and 16.85 million viewers. Wow. Wow. Wow.

OMG! The Voice had a 6.1 adult rating last night up 13% from last week. That’s amazing! Can you believe that? The Voice is back to the 6-level (and might actually be adjusted up later). Un-real. American Idol has not had 6-level ratings for weeks.

I love The Voice!

Smash went up 17% to a 2.7 adult rating. I don’t think it’s in danger of getting canceled now. Wow.

NBC won the night with adults 18-49 and total viewers led by The Voice which was up 13% from last week (when the Daytona 500 was delayed into primetime) to a 6.1 adults 18-49 rating. Smash also benefited rising 17% to a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating.

ABC was second on the night led by two hours of The Bachelor that averaged a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating between 8-10p, down a tenth from last week.

Well network TV viewing may be down all around but American Idol snagged 3 of the top 4 spots on this weeks chart including the top spot......its also interesting to note on here Rickey that your Idol reports still garner far more comments and interest than your Voice posts....just an observation. :)

@djfabian American Idol came alive last week. But for previous weeks before that, it was dead -- and The Voice had more buzz. If you really want to compare comments engagement -- then The X Factor from last year has the most comments from the three current season of the shows so far.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's just how things are over here. Maybe in other places you'll get a different setup.

That is awesome for The Voice, I did enjoy a few of the battles from yesterday's show. It sucks that Anthony and Chris C. didn't make it. Boo!!!!!!

Hopefully Heejun, P2, Jessica, Elise and the gang on idol will give idol a ratings boost too. :) I still love "IDULL" lols.

@ArchieSue I'm focusing my anger now on Nigel Lythgoe for destroying American Idol this year. He's gotten too fixated in trying to save So You Think You Can Dance, he destroyed an institution in just one month. I should have a rant at the end of the week.

@Rickey Lols , love your rants Rickey. Nigel did screw idol up royally this season. The only hope for idol are the contestants. They better have some stellar performances, no pressure. :) The Voice is officially a hit for NBC and it can only go up from here. It did help that they had so many celebrity advisers on the show.

I am enjoying both shows but I do miss acts like Astro and Rachel from the X-Factor. So I think there will be room for all 3 shows in the long run.

@ArchieSue That is my belief that 4 shows (Voice vs Idol, Voice vs XF) can co-exist. The problem is Idol is dropping the ball like they had no idea how it is done! They been doing this for 10 years. Idol might just have the same ratings and audience as DWTS in a few weeks. It's just all happening so quickly.

Oh, to be a blind Idol loyalist and attack any show that threatens it's ratings dominance. What a life that must be. ;)

Watched Idol since Season 1, but I'm so zzzzz with the blandness of it now. I only watch for Jessica Sanchez.

@JeremyGable I think all these shows are pretty good, but I would love to see Idol and The Voice go head to head on the same night at the same time. That's really the only way to really tell which is more popular.

Dont do a happy dance just yet...the TV Juggernaut known as DWTS is back on MARCH 19 ..The Voice remains a pointless gameshow and whoever wins will be quickly forgotten....way too contrived and staged for my liking....I watched Rupauls Drag Race....if Im gonna be looking at Drag Acts I might as well look at the real thing and not Christina!

@djfabian DWTS isn't really the ratings juggernaut it used to be. I remember it dropping into the 3s and 4s last season. This season's cast seems pretty boring. It may start off decent, but I predict the ratings will hit new series lows by the end of the season.

Is it too much to ask for an Adam Levine pic now and then...Jesus...if you don't like the frumpy sweater from last night...then go back to the Cosmo 1/2 nekkid tattooed PSA...but Rickey...don't make me boycott the site. Xtina, with her frisbee hat, is only my 2nd fave judge.

the Voice is profoundly better, production wise and talent wise than IDULL. No wonder they are beating the hell out of the dyingfranchise. RIP American IDULL.

@Mikhail XO I wish Adam would show more chest and Xtina would show less. Thanks to her latest outfit tho, I feel compelled to stare at her chesticles, because I can't quite decide if she's lopsided. Usually she has them squished together, so I never noticed much other than the way they constantly look close to bursting and how she has those blue veins, but she looked decidedly lopsided last night.

Yea, I don't see Smash being cancelled. I have a feeling it will be renewed for a second season!!!! YAYAYAYAYAY! I'm so happy right now!!!!!!!

@jlscott13 I'm glad to see it perking up. I'm really enjoying the show so far. It's too bad NBC is such a weak network. Smash isn't doing well enough to keep that cushy spot behind The Voice if it gets renewed and NBC really doesn't have anything else good to use as a lead in. The positive side being, you don't have to have stellar ratings to get renewed, just have to not be the most pathetic :>
