Ratings: The Voice down 18%
Update: The Voice adjusted up to a 5.2
The Voice had a 5.1 adult rating last night, which everyone is attributing to Daylight Saving Time. The experts say all programs will be affected by the time change this week. Ratings were already down from previous weeks last Sunday.
Let’s see how that theory plays out. All I know is people were very cranky when the time change happened last Sunday. There’s something in the air.
The rest of the numbers:
NBC again won the night with adults 18-49 and total viewers led by The Voice, but its season low 5.1 adults 18-49 rating may have been whacked by Daylight Savings Time too, it was down 18% vs. a 6.2 rating last week. The half hour ratings for The Voice were: 4.5, 5.1, 5.3, 5.4. Smash fell to a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating, down 11% vs. a 2.7 rating last week.
ABC was second on the night led by two hours of The Bachelor season finale that averaged a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating between 8-10p, up 16% vs. a 2.5 rating last week, but that was its lowest finale rating ever, down 36% from its March, 2011 finale which drew a 4.5 adults 18-49 rating. Afterwards, The Bachelor: After The Final Rose drew a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating, down 30% vs. a 4.7 rating for the ATR special last season.
Got Something to Add?
I guess they could check the ratings in the parts of the country that refuse to acknowledge DST and verify ;)
I'm not buying the time change spin. Last week's show was very meh compared to the blind auditions. I don't expect much of a recovery next week.
It happens with DST every year. Just one of the many reasons the change is stupid. (lower ratings means less money)
@chessguy99 It's what the TV people are saying. I'm only passing it on.
@Mikhail XO DST or not , My point is whenever The Voice's ratings go down, R, always tries to put some spin on it, For example the other week, he blamed it on Nascar. But he never does the same for Idol.. I've been Analyzing the way he reports ratings carefully since the season started, and even when Idol has a legit reason to be down in the ratings, he never ever mentions it..... And I still think Idol has far better production quality than the voice.. In fact since the battle rounds began, I stopped watching the Voice because I think its Cheesy and Poorly produced.
