Ratings: ‘Scandal’ beats ‘American Idol’ on Thursday – 4/26/2013
Update: The Big Bang Theory up to 4.5 (!!!), American Idol adjusted up to 2.8, The Vampire Diaries up to 1.0
American Idol 12 had a 2.7 adult rating on Thursday — its lowest rated show ever. It was tied with Grey’s Anatomy and Person of Interest and Scandal beat it for the very first time ever with a 2.8. Wow.
The Big Bang Theory had a 4.2 rating and 14.38 million viewers, the #1 and most watched show of the night.
The Vampire Diaries had a 0.9 rating and 2.15 million viewers. (This doesn’t bode well for the potential The Originals spinoff unfortunately.)
Two and a Half Men had a 2.8 rating (beating Idol again).
Glee had a 1.8 rating and 5.24 million viewers.
Beauty and the Beast had a 0.5 rating and 1.3 million viewers.
Elementary had a 2.0 rating.
Hannibal had a 1.0 rating.

Got Something to Add?
they tried way to hard to force a female winner. the only person that even have a slight interest would be angie miller who i think would have done well against stronger male singers. shes more current then the other 3 and less boring. if she goes any time soon though i'll just skip to the finale. and i've seen every episode pretty much every season. however i really did like lee's new single , if his new cd is like that i think it will do pretty well.
It's not about what the ptoducers did, it's not about who were chosen as judges and top 10..
AI's ratings has been steadily decreasing year after year..
It has run its course...
@khaleesi Welll, theoretically at least, it was the producers who picked both the judges and the Top 10 - at least decided who the judges saw at auditions.
@Mikhail XO He's not necessarily stupid, but much like the Idol themes, he's a bit archaic. He is trying some of the old tricks they used a decade ago, only that isn't working any more. The feeble attempts to grab headlines, to create drama instead of good musical moments, has come back to bite his limey arse.
@Mikhail XO If you look at the schedule next week... it's going to be a total bloodbath, I think. The Voice and a new episode of Modern Family airs on Wednesday. And we're getting the same new shows on Thursday. May sweeps! :)
@khaleesi @Rickey @hrstump LOL - You don't get it? You probably haven't been watching this show long enough. The "proof" is out in the open. There's such a thing called "casting". You can't be that naïve. The show picks who they want to be on the show then call them the "most talented singers in America" every single year.
The producers blew it big time this season. Destroyed a multi-million dollar franchise because they listened to the "critics" who wanted a female winner.
@khaleesi @Mikhail XO American Idol is a strong brand. Even as the ratings have been going down steadily over the years, it has still managed to be the #1 show. However, this season, they made some major mistakes -- even worse than last season -- that has destroyed the franchise.
One of these mistakes is to constantly repeat that "American Idol makes stars" and that The Voice and The X Factor don't produce any. The direct effect of that is that Idol ratings went into steep decline and The Voice has become the undisputed #1 singing show in America.
Idol has made it obvious that they are desperate and don't have the answers, and the audience has responded.
