Ratings: American Idol up 7% from last week, down 34% from last year

Update: American Idol adjusted up to 4.3

American Idol had a 4.2 adult rating last night which was up 7% from last week. Good job America! You deciding to vote off Jessica Sanchez created the ratings push the fans wanted. It’s self-perpetuating, I love it.

Now just make sure to vote off another front-runner next week and the ratings are sure to climb up again. That’s the secret!

May I suggest that you vote off Colton and Phillip out, then Elise, then Jessica, then Skylar… and we can have an epic Hollie Cavanagh and Joshua Ledet finale, with Joshua winning it all. This is the scenario for ratings win, the track record proves it.

The Big Bang Theory and Person of Interest were on repeat last night.

Fox won the night with adults 18-49 paced by American Idol which was three tenths higher last week with a 4.2 adults 18-49 rating. Touch was steady vs. last week with a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating.

Despite being almost entirely repeats, CBS was second for the night. Those rooting against another hour of comedy on CBS on Thursday’s next season likely feel punched in the gut this morning with a repeat of The Big Bang Theory at 9pm topping all the original competition on ABC, Fox and NBC during that half hour. CBS’s only original on the night was a Rules of Engagement episode that drew a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating, even with last week when it had an original Big Bang Theory as its lead-in. The special time slot test of a Person Of Interest repeat at 10pm fared pretty well with a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating.

no wonder, most of the American Idol winners didn't do good in the music industry.... kelly clarkson and carrie underwood are out of 10 winners. :) non winners are doing better than the winners... :)

and how do we know now that the results before were legitimate? the elimination of jessica really was not shocking, it was proof of illegitimacy of the show... CRAZY PRODUCER... THIS SHOW WON'T LAST FOR ANOTHER 5 YEARS... POOR JESSICA... the producer might eliminate her soon to prove that no one is voting for her when polls and statistics show she's number 1 each week like duh

it was just a gimmick... watch her weekly american idol videos and she gets the most views every week... and jessica has been a youtube sensation having millions of fans worldwide and america. why did they use jessica? why not colton who i think is 2nd when it comes to popularity. phillips is 3rd for now then joshua (skylar, elise and hollie are fighting for votes) hairline difference. it would be more believable if they eliminated colton. now i know, American idol has been a lie and i've been watching this show since 4th season... grrrr

Talented she is; outstanding voice and I wish her well and hope she succeeds. But she is a singer, not a musician/musical artist like most of the others remaining. Her performances are just not interesting to many (maybe most) people. Maybe in a few years time she'll develop the style and performance skills she needs to add something to her vocal abilities.
