Ratings: American Idol tied with The Big Bang Theory, down 27% from last season
The Big Bang Theory was the #1 show last night tied with American Idol with a 5.5 rating.
American Idol had a total of 17.4 million viewers and was even from last week, down 27% percent from last season (7.5 and 21.89 million viewers). This is actually very good news as it looks like Idol might be holding steady with these numbers. I hope this is the lower end of the ratings for Idol this season. No more big drops from week to week please.
From FOX Research:
@AmericanIdol was the No. 1 program of the night in Adults 18-49 (5.4/15, tie w/ Big Bang Theory) and Total Viewers (17.1 million)
The Big Bang Theory’s 5.4 adults 18-49 rating was down a tenth vs. a 5.5 rating last week, but for the third week in a row it topped the first half hour of American Idol (5.0) among adults 18-49. Also, its average audience of 16.38 million viewers would be a series high, if it holds up in the final ratings. Rob had a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating, down a tenth vs. a 3.5 rating last week. Person Of Interest had a series high 3.3 adults 18-49, up a tenth vs. a 3.2 rating two weeks ago. The Mentalist’s 2.8 adults 18-49 rating was down 7% vs. a 3.0 rating two weeks ago.
American Idol drew a season low 5.4 adults 18-49 rating in its full hour, down a tenth vs. a 5.5 rating last Thursday, although finals adjustments are likely to close that gap. The Finder slipped to a 2.4 adults 18-49, down 14% vs. a 2.8 rating last week.
