YES! Randy Jackson said on The View this morning that he is not leaving American Idol.

He said that someone called him the glue of the show. I think that would be ME!

AMERICAN IDOL judge RANDY JACKSON has dismissed reports suggesting he is set to follow JENNIFER LOPEZ and STEVEN TYLER and leave the show.

His two sidekicks quit Idol last week (ends13Jul12), and the shake-up prompted gossip sites and bloggers to suggest that TV bosses were looking to make a clean sweep and start season 12 with a whole new judging panel.

One insider went so far to suggest Jackson would step back from the judges’ desk and mentor wannabes, so his longtime friend and collaborator Mariah Carey could take his place.

But the session musician-turned-TV personality insists he’ll be back.

Appearing on The View on Friday (20Jul12), he said, “Someone called me the glue (of the show).”

Jackson went on to state he has no hard feelings about being the last man standing, following Tyler and Lopez’s departure, stating, “I love Steven and Jennifer immensely… I’ve been friends with them for a long time, (and) that will continue.”

Executives are still working to fill their empty seats, with will.i.am, Fergie, Adam Lambert and Carrie Underwood joining Carey in the mix of potential candidates.

@rickey Why save Randy, he was one of the big problems with idol. Ryan is the only one who is irreplaceable on the show. @americanidol

Have some self respect Randy it's time to move on! If the above mentioned are the choices, I'd definitely go with Adam Lambert and Carrie over Fergie and/or Will.I.Am. I can't imagine they'd put two ex idols on the panel though. Carrie would be an interesting selection being the best selling of the alums and being the first real country music expert on the panel, however a lot of people dogged her when she was a contestant for not having any personality, which isn't a great attribute in a "judge." Adam, otoh, has plenty of personality, but a significant chunk of the fan base doesn't like him.

I agree with those who have suggested Ben Folds. He knows his stuff and gives pretty good critiques. I wonder if they have considered any of the aging Disney Kids other than Miley. Probably plenty that are desperate enough for some kind of work I imagine.

@Rickey I love how Randy quotes our beloved Rickey when his quoted comment was a tad bit sarcastical. Seems to be the best (only?) positive affirmation he got. Go Rickey!

meh. wish Randy would go. He doesn't really add much. I still think Ben Folds and John Legend would be great. Both have done fantastic jobs judging their respective shows; honest, critical, without being mean. Their comments are knowledgeable and provide something constructive the contestants can work with, not the usual "dawg, I'm not feeling it" kind of stuff.

Then we need a female judge...although she's waaaay to nice and not critical enough, I'd love to see Kelly Clarkson as a judge again. She has a wonderful energy and really creates a fun banter between judges, plus she's one of the most (if not the most) successful alum, so it's fitting.
