All I pointed out was that he's the  chosen one for "VOTE FOR THE WORST" and that is a fact. Not MY opinion.

 @abercrombieco2  @takakupo No, I don't know the scope of singing styles or a lot about music but I have a very diverse library myself and I do have my own tastes like you have yours. With my limited knowledge though, I know that Philip doesn't have a very big range nor does he hit many of his notes. I honestly have tried to invest myself in Philip because I respect Rickey's opinion since I come here pretty much every day for news and every year for Idol or X-factor, but I just can't get into him. 

If you look at singers who have limits like Feist or CatPower, who have a very niche audience, you'll know that they take their styles to the limit. Calling Philip middling would be a compliment but he doesn't reach that height. I would go as far as to say that he's a talented guitarist (an area I know little about) but as a singer, he has no chops. He barely has the intention of hitting the notes but the biggest fail for me is that he has absolutely no melody. Every performance he has on this stage (especially group performances) he has no power of the melody of the song unlike, lets say Shakira. A master of melody and phrasing. Listen to one Shakira song like, "Tu" "Objection" "Si Te Vas" or even "Whenever Wherever" and you'll see that she molds the and follows the song. Philip on the other hand is a performer who sings for the sake of singing and isn't that talented in that aspect of performance. 

His greatest strength is that he's trying to make his own style but his style is not working nor can you convince me that he is of the same style that Dave Mathews is. Philip needs singing lessons and that's all I can say about him objectively. 

I didn't even know the DM song and tbh not a huge DM fan though i am a Phillip fan. i thought the words were totally clear... Problem was it was too short. I would have loved to hear more, but I'll just buy the iTunes version. So many people don't seem to get Phil at all. Oh well, that's just the way it is. Opinions are subjective. To me, almost everyone else on there is as generic as can be. I compared it to DM's version just now and shock of shocks, I like Phil's version better and the way he sang it. To each his own. DM is fine but Phil is not DM nor trying to be. He has a similar way of getting into the music but everyone who does isn't DM or I too would be a DM imitator for feeling the music.

I also like his voice and his manner and his speaking voice is akin to his singing voice as well so not like he's trying to sound like anyone. He is himself. Love Phil - the only thing keeping this season remotely interesting for me and if he were to leave, no reason at all for me to watch. He is an oasis of clarity in a show of mainstream mediocrity.

And i don't go by his looks though they aren't bad at all ;). I love just listening to his music as much as watching and the faces don't even bother me at all.

Phil makes me feel the words he's singing unlike the others who seem disconnected.

 @rezzzy I like skylar.... she have been steady ......  the so so contestants are Elise, Jessica and Joshua.... the artistically unique are Elise and PP but the person whos in the wrong circle is Hollie...
