Phillip Phillips – Superstition and Thriller – American Idol Audition
Phillip Phillips auditions with ‘Superstition’ and ‘Thriller’ on American Idol in Savannah, Georgia.
White Guy With Guitar! Yes! I love American Idol!!! I think we have a winner!!! Phillip embodies all the winners that we’ve seen on this show since David Cook. Amazing.

Somebody has my user name!!!! I Love the new AI. And I really like this guy :) But isn't he originally from Wasilla, Alaska? Just sayin....!!!!
No - please not a guy with a guitar - please please please let it be a singer not someone hiding behind a guitar - just a singer
he is more like dave matthews then dave cook , i know some one tried to use that as a lame atempt as an insult but if he sang dmb on idol that would be pretty awsome. i can easily see him being in the finale , but its pretty early , other people have looked great now and just bombed on the live shows.
Rickey, please dont support this dude. i'm tired of the david cook singers on idol. ENOUGH
They can't allow this guy to go to lives. IDT Idol can withstand another Lee Dewyze type winner with under 50K sales.
@rickey WOAH..not so fast rickey..lotta hurdles to clear b4 crossing the xfinishline
@QKW24 We're supporting Deandre don't worry! #BDND!
@Sofie what is that supposed to mean? dave mattews actually plays real music, go back to justin beiber.
@chessguy99 OMG, I totally forgot Lee D! So, we had Cook, Kris Allen, Lee D, and Scotty McC. Yes, there's no room for another WGWG.
@Mikhail XO Don't forget the plaid shirt.
Plus: He already has a bit of Taylor Hicks/Scotty McCreery quirkiness when he sings. And he already did a "remix" of another song making it contemporary (Thriller) ala David Cook and Kris Allen.
And he wears flip flops.
This guy knows what he is doing. He's in it to win it.
Covering MJ was a good move for young Philip Hicks Cook Allen McCreery. Plaid shirt and flip flops to give plenty of room for progression in 'the look'. But then again ... remember Tim Urban. It doesn't always end well for these types, Rickey.
@laff Well I like The X Factor. Idol is a bit "tame" for me now. LOL! You mean you didn't watch the shock after shock eliminations? :(
I'm honestly really looking forward to The Voice now. Steven and J.Lo said "it's beautiful" and "it's wonderful" for almost every audition. I really want to see new and interesting things on TV. People will complain that the auditions are too long again on Idol maybe next week. :)
@Rickey I see what you're saying. Unless he chokes in Hollywood, or gets the Chris Medina edit, we're gonna hear a lot of "he's in it to win it" tossed around.
(OT) - Btw, isn't Idol so much better than XFactor? Even with Simon and Paula in it, I found xfactor WAY less fun than Idol, and barely watched after the first few episodes.
@laff Oh yes. But in fairness, I think last season, a couple of the auditions in the "pimp spot" got eliminated in Hollywood, so there is a chance that this is a fake out. But still... he has all the qualities of what a typical Idol fan who has been watching for 10 years wants. A full blown "go to his hometown" treatment like this should not be taken lightly!
@Rickey Mmm, good point. *sigh*, guess we're looking at Top 5 minimum, then.
@laff Tim Urban did not get the star treatment of a premiere episode. :)
