Phillip Phillip‘s mother Cheryl Phillips was arrested for DUI today, reports TMZ.

Oh no! Apparently things have not been going well in the family as Phillip’s parents reportedly split up just last week.

Phillip Phillips’ mother Sheryl Phillips — who appeared on several episodes of “American Idol” during Phillip’s championship run last season — was arrested for DUI earlier today, TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement officials tell us, an undercover unit observed Sheryl swerving her van across lanes of traffic in Albany, Georgia — and pulled her over.

We’re told … based on what officers observed after the stop … they had reason to believe Sheryl was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

The mother of former American Idol winner Phillip Phillips has been charged with DUI, officials say.

Cheryl Jean Phillips is being booked at the Dougherty County Jail on charges of DUI less safe after a traffic stop around 1 p.m. Thursday on Davis Street in Albany. The stop, conducted by the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit, was initiated after Phillips was reportedly seen weaving on the roadway, Maj. Bill Berry says.

“The driver was all over the road, so my officer pulled her over,” Berry said. “She was taken to the hospital for a blood test and has been charged with DUI-Less Safe.”
