Phillip Phillips is not battling his label

  • by Rickey
  • August 16, 2012 at 6:14 pm
American Idol · 19 Entertainment · Phillip Phillips

Phillip Phillips isn’t “battling his label” as some blogs and fans have asserted this week. Phillip and 19 Entertainment have made statements about the matter on Twitter saying that there is “no battle” and that the “blogs got it wrong.”

I can’t believe that some people are so desperate for controversy, they are throwing Phillip under the bus.

Background:

The other day, Phillip retweeted a tweet from a guy named Nathan Porter who was railing about “pro-artist or pro-corporation.” It wasn’t specific, but some blogs like VFTW assumed that it was about Phillip.

19 Entertainment quickly said that: “Nathan Porter isn’t a manager at 19″ and added that the original tweet (which has since been deleted) was about another artist.

Phillip also said that: “there is no battle between the label and I.”

Unfortunately, because of desperation for controversy (and hits), some blogs still insist that what they think is happening is happening, not even giving Phillip or 19 Entertainment the benefit of the doubt.

This is a non-story blown out of proportion by some people with too much time on their hands reading Twitter feeds and imagining things from their home computer. Just stop it already. Leave Phillip alone.

Rumor Control: No battle btw @phillips & label. The post was written for another artist. Nathan Porter isnt a mgr at 19. Blogs got it wrong

In other words, it's happening, it's real, and we'll hear about it when PP is dropped by the label in a year or two.

He started off his "win" by saying "Home" was nothing like HIS music.  Oops, now he has a monster hit on his hands and the label is paying the bucks, taking the risk, he's going to record what they tell him and, maybe, get filthy rich or he better find a new career.  He can be "artistic" later.

Phillips's label put out this ad.

"

POP/ROCK SONGS with MALE VOCALS in the style of David Cook, Paul McDonald, with elements of John Mayer, Train, and Jason Mraz, etc., needed by an A&R Manager of a Major Label for an AMERICAN IDOL winner working on his debut album. They’re looking for FRESH, UPLIFTING, and RADIO-FRIENDLY songs that are stylistically within the range of the referenced artists while bringing something NEW and FRESH to the table. They’ll be looking for the Top-40 Radio side of Pop/Singer-Songwriter/Rock, nothing overly moody or introspective. Your songs should be FUN and CATCHY, with BIG sing-along CHORUSES.

"

and Phillip tweets this afterwards "I like moody songs that have meaning.......makes you think"

and you decide to believe Phillip's tweet??? Surely no one is that stupid or naive!

@Kristy102

The label didn't put this ad out... Where's YOUR proof??

Youre just regurgitating what you hear and read.

This ad was put out by a company called Taxi.

Seems like youre the one who is naive.

@Rickey LOOL! No one wants to hurt PP. All I'm saying, is if a war is going on, It's your job as an "IDOL BLOGGER" to acknowledge it and report it! Interscope Vs PP. Team PP all the way. :P

@Rickey Dont tell me you're this naive, Rickey!  It's right for you to ignore the truth when It's branded in your face! Phillip has every reason to lie to us and keep the dispute under wraps, but it's clear as day

his label put out an Ad for Song Writers, describing a kind of music PP isn't interested in making!

PP tweets, clearly questioning the ad his label put out.

"I like moody songs that have meaning.......makes you think"

and then RT's a tweet from a ranting account which said a whole lot of stuff about artists vs Co-operations and labels!

and you believe him when he says there's nothing wrong with the label???? No Body's that stupid! NO BODY! not even blind fans.

even his Girlfriend sent out a bunch of tweets talking about 'Home' and now she's forced to defend herself and PP.

@Kristy102 To be honest, you can't support Phillip and call him a liar at the same time. If he says there's no beef, there's no beef.
