And Paula-gate 2013 continues unabated, as the popular TV chef has now been dropped by Walmart.
Walmart just released a statement about the decision, saying, “We are ending our relationship with Paula Deen Enterprises and we will not place new orders beyond those already committed.”
The retail superstore is the latest business partner to cut ties with Deen following the controversy surrounding her use of the n-word in a deposition several years ago. In the past week, Deen has been dropped by Food Network, the Caesars casino company, and the ham company Smithfield.
Deen gave a tearful interview on The Today Show this morning, breaking down during her interview with Matt Lauer.
“If there’s anyone out there that has never said something that they wish they could take back … please pick up that stone and throw it so hard at my head that it kills me.”
Even if many of her fans have forgiven her, it seems as though it will take a long time before corporate sponsors do the same.
