Paula Deen says in lawsuit questioning that she has used racial slur but doesn’t tolerate hate
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Celebrity cook Paula Deen says she has used racial slurs in the past but insists she and her brother, who are accused of racial and sexual discrimination in a lawsuit by a former manager of their restaurant, don’t tolerate hateful behavior.
In a court deposition filed Monday in federal court, an attorney for former restaurant manager Lisa Jackson presses the 66-year-old Deen about her racial views and those of her brother, Bubba Hiers. Deen is asked if she’s ever used “the N-word.” She responds: “Yes, of course.”
Deen says she likely used the slur in the 1980s after a black man held her at gunpoint at the Georgia bank where she worked.
Deen insists she and her brother object to slurs being used in “any cruel or mean behavior.”
Got Something to Add?
Ha ha Americans, gotta lover them. N word?, who came up with such stupidity. Blacks can say n******, but whites can't?. Any logic to this?. And don't give me that crap with, (blacks has another meaning to the word), WRONG. Either they ditch it completely amongst them selfs, or stop whining every time a white says it, and then using the lame and overused word (racist).
@MichaelBing1big deal. Black use it all of the time. Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, and other Black male comedy kings use nigger regularly and not affectionately. It is in songs, movies and so much more. Why should Paul get fired over and all of the problems from it. If one person can say then there should be no wrong for others.
@MichaelBing1 Are you really that stupid? Yep! You are. Any group among themselves may call each other by a name but when someone from outside does it, it takes on a whole new meaning. Many ethnic groups have these phenomena within group but as much as a person outside may wish they should be able to say the same thing, it just doesn't work. Go into any group of which you are not a member and tell us how that worked out for you if you can.
