The fact that the producers, like Jimmy, and other people around the music industry love Paul and always seem to rave about him in the videos before he performs speaks about his musical talent. I guarantee that no matter where he finishes, he and his band will get a major record deal and I'd guess that Jimmy signs him up in a second.

Paul seems to be a nice guy, has white teeth, moves well on stage. But when it comes down to it, he just can't sing. Never will. His hoarse and croaky voice will never make it in the music world.

I've never understood the appeal of Paul. Yes, he's comfortable on stage. I get that. He writes his own material. That's awesome and I really think he could strike it big if that material ever took off. He definitely has the eccentric, artist vibe, however, when I compare him to the others remaining, he comes out on the bottom every single time.

Matt you must be a relative of his. That was just another brutal performance by a singer that will see future stardom on cruise ships and state fairs.

And the judges, trying so hard to push him through to the next round. They disgust me by not giving him any critical help.

Loved the energy! Great way to start the show and, it wasn't a ballad. Think he's going to need more than just core fans though since he went first and the really bad guys this week (James, Scotty and Lauren) are all supposed to be the frontrunners.

Addendum to what I posted above: Paul can sing, but mainly softer, singer/songwriter stuff. I checked out some of his originals on you tube and the guy is a genuine artist. He won't win idol but the notoriety will help him and his band if he goes back to it. Check out the Grand Magnolias. You'll be glad you did.

I disagree with both of you. Paul was fun, but the guy has zero vocal range and no power. He shouldn't sing songs like that because it becomes all the more obvious. And Naima couldn't hit a note to save her life, which is why she's gone. Paul will be in the next few weeks - pubescent voters can only save him for so long.
