Nick Viall Reportedly Dumped Jen Saviano To Do ‘The Bachelor’

Lots of drama in the world of The Bachelor, but then, what else is new? According to a Bachelor alum, Nick Viall broke up with his Bachelor In Paradise girlfriend, Jen Saviano, to accept the role as The Bachelor 2017, an announcement that was made less than a week ago.

The news came directly from Bachelor alum Lauren Himle, who stated that Nick and Jen were together only days before he was cast as The Bachelor, despite previews for Bachelor In Paradise suggesting that the two break up in the season finale.

“I am not a big fan of [Nick]. He dated my great friend Jen on Bachelor in Paradise and they did break up on the show, but it was my understanding that they were still seeing each other after the show completed,” Lauren said. “She knew that he was kind of manipulating her towards the end. This just happened, they were solid a week ago. It’s fresh. I think he is going to have a hard time finding someone better than Jen.”

Jen hasn’t contradicted anything Lauren has said. If anything, her response adds fuel to the fire, as Jen opted to skip town altogether after learning her apparent boyfriend was leaving her to go do The Bachelor.

Jen also made it clear that she would not be popping up on Nick’s season to compete for his heart, tweeting in response to a fan musing about which other contestants might return.

Lauren was quick to add a support tweet, letting Jen know that Nick doesn’t really deserve her anyway.

This news getting out seems to tie into the theory that ABC wanted Viall over safer choices like Luke Pell or Chase McNary because they wanted a controversial Bachelor, in the hopes of recreating the drama of Juan Pablo Galavis’s season. Maybe it’s because I like Nick, but it’s really hard for me to imagine he would be anywhere near as unlikable as Juan Pablo, even on his worst day. That said, I do expect this to be one of the more dramatic seasons in recent memory, at least far more so than either Chris or Ben’s seasons. So bring it on.
