New ‘Batman v Superman’ Photos Include Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, More (PHOTOS)

We’re less than a year away from the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and we’re only about a week away from San Diego Comic Con! And both those facts means we’re in for an avalanche of new intel on one of 2016’s most anticipated movies. Case in point, some brand new photos to add fuel to the hype train.

Released by the fine folks at Entertainment Weekly, these new photos feature never-before-seen images from the movie, such as Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) clandestinely chatting (or maybe flirting?) at a high society function, outside of their respective superhero alter egos, Batman and Wonder Woman. We also see Batman and Superman squaring off face-to-face, Batman standing beside the all-new Bat signal, Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) pre-balding, and Superman (Henry Cavill) standing among a crowd of awed spectators. Lastly, we have a photo of Affleck and director Zack Snyder going over a scene together, as it looks like one of the film’s major setpieces is about to get underway (if it hasn’t already). Check out the photos below:

I’m totally loving these pictures. I’m still not entirely sold on Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman just yet, but I think seeing her as Diana Prince first helps, in much the same way seeing Ben Affleck’s tortured depiction of Bruce Wayne helps his version of Batman feel like a more natural extension of the character. I also like the angry techie interpretation of Lex Luthor, and the ongoing question of whether or not Superman is a man or a god. All in all, I’m pretty stoked about this movie. These pictures really give a sense of the movie’s tone, and while Batman v Superman remains a divisive topic of conversation among comic book fans and movie buffs alike, it’s interesting to see how it’s all coming together.
