Magic Johnson & co. discuss the Los Angeles Lakers‘ chances of making the playoffs. This is a team that is jam-packed with All-Stars; but injuries and a lack of team chemistry have plagued them all season long.
Can they flip a switch? Can they start winning games again? Mathematically speaking, they won’t make the playoffs this season. However, being that I’m a self-avowed (slightly deluded) Lakers fanatic, I believe Kobe will lead this team to victory.

Okay guys, I need to vent:
First: I’m very aware of the fact that this team is severely plagued with injuries, but how… HOW can a team consisting of Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, Metta World Peace, Antawn Jamison, etc. perform so poorly throughout the season? I think it all comes down to one thing: Chemistry. This current roster lacks chemistry. Jim Buss (the owner of the Lakers) made a grave mistake in NOT hiring Phil Jackson. (Rumor had it that Phil Jackson was one of the candidates in line to replace former head coach Mike Brown). No disrespect to Mike D’Antoni, but Phil Jackson has 11 championship rings on his resume. Eleven. When Phil’s in the picture, he makes magic happen. (Btw, that sounded really corny, but that man is a true magician and Zen-master).
Second: WAKE UP, LAKERS! We need a “W” badly. You have all pieces of the puzzle right now, but you haven’t figured out how to complete the puzzle. You haven’t figured out which piece goes where. You need to find a sense of urgency.
Third: Just play some defense. Please. Defense, defense, defense. That’s the KEY!
Fourth: Some of y’all may think I’m deluded for still believing in this team. I just know this team has something special in them. It will probably just take another season for them to gel, and for them to become a cohesive unit.
Fifth: I am NOT jumping on the Clippers bandwagon, just because they’re the other L.A. team. Mind you, they have an incredible roster, amazing chemistry, and an outstanding record thus far… but I bleed purple and gold. I’m a die-hard Lakers fan.
In the past, the Lakers organization had Jerry Buss and Phil Jackson… but the past is the past. Now it’s time to move forward.
The Lakers have a game later tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Hopefully, I will see a sense of urgency from my team! I still believe!
End of rant. Phew! That was a mouthful. I’m glad I got that out there.
So… if you disagree with my views, that’s completely fine! Everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion, so I won’t be offended if you disagree with me.
See ya next time when I write another “NBA Countdown” post. Thank you for following along!
