Miranda Lambert Names Her Fifth Studio Album ‘Platinum’
Miranda Lambert has revealed that her fifth studio album will be called Platinum.
While there is no release date yet for the new record, the lead single ‘Automatic’ is currently at country radio and rising very quickly, and sees a jump from #36 to #14 last week on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. The song, co-written by Miranda, Nicole Galyon and Natalie Hemby, reminisces about the good old days, where everything took longer and required you to work harder, but was ultimately more worth it than today’s world of instant gratification.
Sony Music Nashville CEO Gary Overton said of the upcoming project, “She’s known as the rock chick and male-basher chick and everything else. But this sets a tone for the album. She’s got rock stuff on there—don’t get me wrong—but there’s things she’s talking about and saying that you haven’t heard her say and contemplate.”
All of Miranda’s previous four releases have gone platinum, so perhaps it seemed an obvious choice for the title. It’ll just be super awkward if it doesn’t sell that well.
