Minnie Driver has signed on for NBC’s sitcom adaptation of Nick Hornby’s book, and the 2002 movie of the same name starring Hugh Grant, About A Boy. Driver will play the role originated by Toni Collette in the film, and will star opposite David Walton.

The single-camera pilot will be written by Friday Night Lights and Parenthood executive producer Jason Katims, and will be directed by Revolution’s Jon Favreau, whose directorial accomplishments include the blockbuster Iron Man.

About A Boy depicts the relationship between Will (Walton), a man-child bachelor going through a revolving door of women, and the young boy who moves in next door with his kooky single mother, Fiona (Driver). This will mark the second NBC comedy pilot for Driver, following Lady Friends last year. Michelle Lee will serve as producer on the series, from Katims’ True Jack Productions, Universal TV, Working Title and Tribeca Productions.
