I'm in the 40 plus age demographic and I'm going to defend Miley as a mentor. She does not have to be a better singer than some of the contestants to mentor, she just needs to share her own experiences. Let's face it Idol is a singing contest. almost all the contestants got there because they were singers BUT many who are successful in the music industry are not great vocalist...just thinking about the special guest last Wed.(Cook excluded). Miley is certainly a better singer than those girls and she grew up in the music biz. She knows what it takes, like her or not.

When I heard about this, the first thing that came to mind: WTF made you agree Simon Fuller. They might as well get Paris Hilton to be a mentor! LOL The show this week should be called Comedy Idol. Miley might as well teach them pole dancing and how to lip sing. Season 9 already isn't that good, now they get Miley. This is the worst decision AI has ever made. :|

It makes sense if this was still Teen Idol Chart week. But it's not. So, don't believe she's the mentor. They'll do ANYthing for ratings. And by ratings I mean YOU tuning in to see a trainwreck called Cyrus.

My nuts hurts just thinking about Miley. Maybe she can tell em all the secrets about lip syncing and auto tune. Yeah Miley sure is the bomb.

Yes, this is probably the worst idea in the history of television. Haha. But really, does anyone actually take Miley Cyrus seriously? This will be a week to DVR it and then just skip right through all of that talentless little hussy's crap. Seriously, asking Miley Cyrus to "mentor" the AI contestants would be like me asking my 10 year old cousin for career advice. :P

In her defense, Miley clearly has worked very hard to improve her voice and musicianship..even though she's still not that good, she has improved greatly and I admire her effort because not a lot of young artists actually bother to try and sing better live and expand their songwriting skills and such...Miley has, so good on her....but still, she is not anywhere NEAR mentor worthy! *slaps forehead*

this is a joke right? how in the world is a 17-year-old with a voice so unbelievably younger than her age going to mentor people who are older than her? what is she going to tell them? use an auto-tune mic, make your voice sound like a chipmunk's, shut your eyes tight and shake your head swiftly when you reach the high notes? is she going to tell them to sing nasally too? and maybe wear minis or skinny jeans and knee-high boots to top it all off? eh, i don't think i'm going to have to watch. i see too much damn "miley-ness" from my kid sister already.

Why are they doing #1 Billboards when they had Hot 100 during the semifinals? I really liked the idea of Teen Idol week. It may have been a better theme to have Miley, Joe & Demi on the show. But then again it's Miley, Joe & Demi. Idol FAIL!

I am willing to give her a chance. She, Demi and Joe are all very young. Yet, they've achieved fame (whether we acknowledge it or not). Might be interesting to hear what she has to say.

Like seriously if this is some kind of way to improve ratings on AI? Because seriously it's not going to help, maybe slightly but not much.

Who knows what Miley will do to AI? I swear more than half of the contestant's are older and better singers than her. Will she really help them? Or worsen them, and based on the comments I've heard and my honest opinion this isn't the best season of AI.

Hopefully she actually helps them instead of bringing them down. I guess we'll all see how this goes Tuesday night.

That picture just looks creepy to me, like so many things she does. Despite what we might think about her, she's a seasoned pro at age 17, she's been through the ringer from an early age, and I wont be a bit surprised if she shocks everyone and is actually wise beyond her years.

Can't wait to see Crystal's,Siobhan's,Didi's, Lee's and Andrew's face when they meet her and them taking pointers from her. Let take bets on who will have the cutest but snarkiest response...My vote is for Siobhan, I think Crystal will be politely quiet. I think her and Andrew will be really odd.

I guess the show asked Miley to mentor the remaining 11 is that she performed on the show last season and that they want her to do it in order to have her promote "The Last Song" due out on March 31. I also think Joe Jonas is going to perform as well is that he served as one of the guest judges at the auditions earlier this season.

Yuck.... why??? Is her new movie a FOX movie? If so then I guess it makes sense.
