Miley Cyrus Sings ‘Jolene’ With Contestant Darby Walker on The Voice 11 (VIDEO)
Last night, NBC followed the Rio Olympics closing ceremony with a first look at The Voice 11 Blind Auditions. Here, we met young Darby Walker, a soulful singer who turned three chairs with her take on the Florence and the Machine version of “Stand By Me”. However, it was a duet after the audition that led to what is likely to be one of the first big moments of the season.
After Miley Cyrus states that she would love to sing with Darby, Adam and the other coaches encourage her to get up and do it. Both women agree to sing “Jolene” by Dolly Parton, and from there, it goes from duet to hoedown, as Miley basically goes really over-the-top with it. But the other coaches have a great sense of humor about it, and that’s kind of what makes this show great. The Voice has this loose, easygoing atmosphere. Sure, they take the competition seriously, but it’s not as if anyone is on sacred ground here, and disallowed from being goofy with it. Darby did a great job on her audition, and the duet was just icing. Watch the performance video below:
