Michelle Obama Brings ‘Let Girls Learn’ Initiative to Qatar (PHOTOS)
First Lady Michelle Obama was in Doha, Qatar this week bringing her “Let Girls Learn” initiative to the WISE Summit 2015.
Michelle said: “Issues like girls’ education and workplace equality have never been and will never be just women’s issues. Let Girls Learn.”
Yay! Go FLOTUS!
"My education opened up opportunities that I never could have dreamed of as a young black girl from a working-class family in a big American city. My university degrees transported me to places I never could have imagined—to boardrooms and courtrooms, to the White House—where my mother now lives with our family and we're raising our daughters just steps from the Oval Office. This is such a long way from the tiny apartment where I was raised. But that's the thing about education—it can carry our children such great distances, and bring the most impossible dreams within their reach." —The First Lady speaking at Qatar's #WISE15 on why we need to help #LetGirlsLearn
Double tap for these girls at the #WISE15 learning labs where students from Qatar were testing out a new hands-on education experience. They got a hug and some selfies after they showed off what they'd learned in one lab about technology and coding when they decoded a message for the First Lady: TMB OQZTA TMIZV LET GIRLS LEARN
