Got Something to Add?
Mindy, you've posted 3/4 times about your disdain for Michael Lynche. We hear ya, sweetie. Now, run along.
Anywho, back to the subject at hand. Michael did a great job. But I believe he needs to step up his game in the genre department. He should try some upbeat R&B. His voice is suited for it, as well. If he changes from the same tired ol' ballad, I think he will be a HUGE contender alongside Crystal and maybe, Lee.
I think Michael is the Anoop Desai of this season. They've both got this "cool, likeable guy" style, they were both spared elimination (Anoop with getting into the top 13), and they both did ballad after ballad after sleepy ballad. I see a similar finish for Michael.
Just beautiful!!! My fav Big Mike performance. He stood out by NOT doing a bluesy rock song like most of the rest.
Same boring music!!! The judges says he was good because they saved him last week and didn't want to feel dumb!!!!
BIG MIKE did his thing on last night. His vocals were awesome, as they are every week. Putting aside personal feeling you may have about him, he is one of the better singers in a singing competition. Unfortunately American Idol isn't looking for the best singer, because if they were Big Mike and Crystal would be the final two standing. After last year's disaster with Chris Allen winning, you would think they would try and get it right this year. I'm glad that Big Mike was saved last week and I would love to see him go up against Crystal and battle it out as the final two singers, but BIG Mike, this is the end of the road for you. I like your voice and you have a BIG personality, but you don't have a big fan base. Best wishes and Good Luck!
I like Michael and was glad he was saved last week. That said, this wasn't my favorite performance from him.
I too grimaced and rolled my eyes that he picked the song about "the ghetto." It's too obvious and a bit pandering. He's better than all that.
Decent, but still the most boring part of the show. Should have been gone weeks ago. I can't believe the judges "corrected" America last week when we totally got it right.
Big Mike is so versatile! He can perform well with or without the guitar...you really can't say that about most of the contestants this season. I think he has more mainstream potential than most of the other contestants except for maybe Crystal and Lee. I mean, this guy can do the soulful, R&B songs but he also can do some pop and even some rock or funk, like Gnarls Barkley. I would really enjoy listening to his album because of this versatility and that's what separates him from past "R&B-labeled" contestants. Ruben could only do R&B and that's what kept him from being an overall success on Hot 100 radio stations.
Wow, why so short? This one seemed shorter than most. I hated him before and was excited to see him exit last week, but he honestly was better on this than he's probably ever been. In tune and a good song (granted he never got to the freaking chorus, which is the best part). Stripped down. I'm OK with him after this week.
I thought this was a beautiful performance from Mike. However, I felt like it just ENDED. Like it was too short. I was JUST getting really into it, and then BAM its over. I really like it though. Maybe it works because he really left me wanting more.
Big Mike annoys me at times but he is a really really good singer. He has such a polished style and wonderful control and I like the things he chooses to do and the places he goes off the melody. Some singers (on Idol and elsewhere) just do way too much riffing but Mike has good taste and instincts.
He and Crystal are in the same league as to the vocal control and what they bring to their music and what they give to their audience.
enough already......I wish his time was up but the excessive overpimping of this greatly overrated contestant may force us to sit through him another week but if there is a god the audience at home will send him packing!
You do realize that the ghetto wasn't a term that started in "black communities". It was to used to describe Jews living together in a small community, mainly in Poland. So technically, it isn't ironic (which I would argue as more coincidence) because if anyone else would have sung it... you can argue it's because he/she is Polish or Jewish. In fact, the word ghetto is defined as an area where a large minority of individuals living together... so it is not ironic.
