Judging:

Rob Marshall – It’s just poetic what you do.

Lady Gaga – My hat is off to you baby. You are my favorite in this competition. I would hire you to dance on my tomorrow! You are such a tour. I wanted to be near you. You are incredible. It was so honest.

Mary Murphy – There isn’t a single week we have not used the words brilliant and amazing.

Nigel Lythgoe – I changed my mind, Sasha is no longer my favorite dancer, YOU are my favorite dancer. Ellen DeGeneres is in the house tonight. You nailed it.

Huh? "I would hire you to dance on my tomorrow! You are such a tour." That isn't even close to what she said!

The comments are pretty hilarious. Last season I posted my opinion that I thought the dancer that showed the most versatility - the one that didn't rely on being too sexy or too cute - the one that played the character of a gentleman, a clown, a doll, a night creature, a supportive son, and a criminal - the one that had the most diversity in ballroom routines - the one that showed a lot of growth - should win. Apparently this upset a lot of people because I ended up with a whole lot of comments that went something along the lines of:

"SYTYCD is not about the most versatile dancer, or even the best dancer, it is about America's favorite dancer, and LF should win."

Apparently the sentiment in the quote didn't carry over to this season...... or people are trying to find excuses why the dancer they want to win isn't getting all the praise.

In fairness though, I think Lauren was extremely versatile last season. She nailed the samba, hip-hop (TWICE with a NappyTabs routine), contemporary, her numerous ballroom numbers with Pasha, the polynesian dance with mark... She really did excel against the other contestants.

Lauren was fine. I think she benefited from some of the circumstances and format changes, with the injuries and being the last girl and all. But the way the routines worked out she wasn't able to show as must versatility as Robert. I mean she repeated some styles rather than having different ones. But that wasn't her fault, just as it's not Melanie and Marko's fault that they haven't done Bollywood or Krump duets.

It's all a popularity contest anyway and in the end I think non-controversial personalities and back stories win over the dance assignments they are given.

I wanna see her do something more hard hitting? Can she even do it? I want her to get krump or something!

Gaga was giggling like a little girl.. haha She really liked it...

I agree with Anonymous. She is a beautiful dancer but you only grow with versatility. Even her Nappy-Tabs hip hop was more lyrical than hip hop which allowed her to stay in character. her tango was not very good. Her Viennese Waltz was more lyrical than true. Let her do Bollywood or the quickstep or samba and we'll see who rocks it out then.

I love Melanie, but I'm starting to agree. They didn't challenge her or Marko with dances, choreo, or styles that were far from their comfort zone. If it was, then it was sprinkled with many lyrical pieces.

Of course she gets contemporary and Neil. Sigh!

It's really not a good thing that she keeps getting genre's that she is familiar with. It shows NO versatility to her at all. I mean she has not been out of her comfort zone at all the whole competition. Sooner or later she will get in the bottom because of it. I am starting to think this is rigged to keep her and Marco on top.
