Megan Fox Replacing Zooey Deschanel on ‘New Girl’ (Well…Temporarily)
A new girl is coming to New Girl!
Megan Fox has signed on for a recurring role on New Girl to replace Zooey Deschanel while the star is on maternity leave. However, she won’t be sticking around too long, as Fox’s role is simply temporary. More specifically, Fox’s character, Reagan, will be renting out Jess’s room while Jess is sequestered for jury duty. Reagan, the “gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep,” will have a multi-episode arc in Season 5, although whether that arc will include a romance remains to be seen.
“It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it,” said New Girl EP Liz Meriwether. “I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.”
The multi-episode arc will begin with the sixth episode of the upcoming fifth season, which premieres in January.
I actually don’t mind Fox, to be honest. She’s not exactly my favorite actress or anything, but she does seem to have a sense of humor about herself that makes her likable. Then again, I couldn’t help thinking of other people who could have filled this role. You know, if Jenna Coleman hadn’t already signed on for that Queen Victoria series after she leaves Doctor Who this season, I think she would have been an absolutely fantastic addition to this cast.
But what do you think of Megan Fox’s casting? Sound off in the comments!
