kara is so dumb. randy was right tho, there were a couple of iffy notes in the beginning, but middle through the end was fantastic. ugh i so wish it would have been adam.

he said in an interview with the LA Times, he has gotten a couple of offers and a few singers who have said they want to do something with him!

Matt you'll be truly missed! but I don't think for too long. Your going to be a great recording artist, and will be very successful in your career! I can't wait to see what's in store for you!

No emotional connection. For the first time, I'm saying Kara was right. And there were pitch problems. I like Matt, but I think his time has come to go.

I think that Simon may be trying to buy Matt some extra exposure before he is voted off the show. Matt's probably the best recording artist in the final 5, but he definitely isn't one of the top performers.

I think Rickey will make a Matt T-shirt when he finally get eliminated (or never at all). He made a site for Matt's fan already, so that's already a bonus so stop begging. LOL.

I love underrated contestant with great talent thats why so many of them here hated Matt.

I picked up some weak notes and pitch problems with each of them but they're all still talented and it's the overall performance that matters to me. In keeping with the integrity of each week's theme, Matt scores high. So give Matt his due for entertaining us and giving us great recordings. Jazz week he scored! Just hope to hear much more.

I don't care if the key was too low or not, he did great. Period.

I loved Jamie last night; but does any one elsse think that the key was too low for Matt? Thats what made his entrance on the song so pitchy; I thought it was way too low for him. I though the end where he sang full voice was awesome as jamie predicted but Matt could have done it if he had more confidence in himself and not shy away from the big ending. The whole song would have come together it it was just a key or two higher. I was kinda upset at jamie for making him go low in the begining.
I think it may have sealed his fate. Sorry Matt; youve been outstanding...

I thought Matt was amazing with Georgia on My mind early on - unfortuantely , I have never seen him hit that stride with anything else.

There were a few parts of this song that were AAMZING and the guy can sing but this was not the wisest song choice because other parts were unbearable .

All the people that thought Matt sucked, how can you say Adam was any better? He screamed at me almost the entire song and honestly how is that singing and for that matter, how can you enjoy that?

Matt rocked it last night. He was amazing and brilliant and as usual, Simon was spot on. :)

Love Matt! <3 I hope he stays!! He's been underrated ever since that bottom 2 appearance after Let's Get It On, IMO.

of course Rickey will have his favorites - it's his site! No one is picking on Rickey, at least that is not what I was doing. There is quite a bit of Matt's fans posting on here and following this site for any news of Matt. I don't want to have to go off this blog to get AI contestant info and given that Matt is in the top 5, I just wish Matt wasn't being ignored. I know that Rickey likes Kris and Adam - so do I but I still want a Matt t-shirt and all the possible info on Matt without leaving Rickey! :)

I have been a regular follower of Rickey since 2007 American Idol season and love it here.

Matt. You ARE the best of the group. It must be difficult and confusing with the roller coaster ride the judges put you on and last night you clearly won. I didn't like Jamie Foxx's advice. I think the key should not have been lower. I think you were trying to listen to him but in your heart you had a different version that was probably better. Newertheless, you did an incredible job with the advice given. When you are allowed to be yourself, you are amazing. I will vote for you and I truly think you should win. Kris is boring, Alison and Danny are raspy, Adam is a screamer. You are authentic.

I liked the way he sung "not". Other than that, mediocre and he's in grave danger of leaving, and I say that as a Matt fan who enjoys his studio recordings every week more than any other contestant.

The feel of song was totally lost on him. His falsetto is not the best place to go. It felt like he was trying to get one more brushing out of an empty tube of toothpaste. I wasn't bowled over. I think he could be in serious danger this week, and ought to be, Simon's high praise not withstanding.

People who talk crap about Matt being pitchy, what the hell do you know? You need to STFU cause you probably are not a musician anyways to know. He was awesome tonight. He sang it like a jazz singer should sound like. Adam and Allison of course sounded their usual rock voices. I love Allison but to me those 2 were the worst. My dad is a musician and he even said that Adam is good for the show but after he wins, you probably won't even buy his album. He doesn't sing that good he screams a lot. In a couple of years his voice will be gone. Matt, Kris, and Allison all the way. Danny is good too. But I don't think his music would appeal to all audiences. He's not current.

Simon was dead on--it was a beautiful performance.

Based on performance alone, Matt rocked it! Everyone was either trying too hard or they put me to sleep. I'd love to him back next week!!!!!

What I loved about this performance was having a chance to hear his voice so full and rich in that lower register. Really beautiful and brought back memories of his acapella audition. He is not the most polished performer, yet, but he has a voice I could listen to all the time. Good job Matt!

Didn't like that very much. The growly voice, then the pitch problems — it was hard to relax while listening to that, because the notes didn't quite...gel. Weakest of the night I thought.

Rickey, I know we all can't like the same contestants in the same way. I have enjoyed posting here since Sanjaya but I always thought you loved all the contestants, just some more than others. I love coming to this site but am sad for the lack of Matt representation.

Rickey, I'm a fan of your website but not your blatant disrespect for Matt. If you want to say you don't like Matt, don't indirectly sugarcoat it by saying "Kris, Adam, Allison, Danny" was the best! Yuck, how fake.

This performance was the best of the night. It was pure vocals and a singing masterclass. No gimmicks, karaoke and are you people musically unaware? It was not pitchy, he was just changing the key from other versions of the song.

Simon was right. Matt FTW :) He'll be the most successful, even if he goes tomorrow.

Simon was right on target when he said it was believable and authentic, and I thought so too, felt like a Jazz club performance. Really loved his interpretation and passion. No disconnect there and No need to compare Matt to anyone. He did his own thing and more than proved how talented he is. Now I can’t wait to hear the studio recording because HIS have all been so phenomenal and worth the purchase.

Pretty good, not sure if it's enough to keep him on the show though. I wish, I'd love to see him stay longer than Gokey.

It's funny after listening to all of them, in no doubt Matt performed really good tonight.

BUT.......MaTT did HIS THING tonite! and I LOVED it!

the first half was a little rough... once he stood up it was amazing! especially the end!

matt did beautifully : ) regardless if he goes home next week...he's made his mark; he showed his talent. he will go far and people will buy his albums. and i'm not saying this just bc i actually know him : ) it's interesting to see what people say and write of someone they don't even know. it's one thing to have an opinion, but another to be down right mean. that's what's sad about the world. sorry for the rant : ( GO MATT!!!

Matt is just classy and this week he was a total performer. Love it!

Melinda Doolittle's was way better.
Frank was, of course, better.
Elvis Costello's version is better.
Diana Krall's is better.
Etta's, Ella's, Julie London, Buble, Sammy--better.
Even Constantine's was better (and I loathed him).
The list goes on.
This version pales in comparison, unfortunately.

I just don't get all the praise for Matt. I just never feel a connection to his vocals -- though it's obvious he's trying his hardest. As well, his voice always seems to waver along the way in his performances -- then you will get a judge or two call him brilliant -- like I said just don't get it.

America, please vote fot Matt. Do it for the Matt fans who can't vote since they are not from the states. Please. I ca't stand seeing him go. :(
