After a tense period of negotiations, where it looked as though Olivia Benson’s time with the Special Victims Unit might come to a sudden, ignominious end, NBC was able to come to an agreement with Mariska Hargitay, securing the actress for Law & Order: SVU‘s fifteenth season. Hargitay tweeted the good news yesterday:
Happy weekend.It’s official. Season 15–I’LL BE BACK!xx m

NBC executives had renewed SVU earlier this month, prior to securing Hargitay for the next season, prompting intense negotiations to keep her with the long-running, successful franchise.
The financial terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed, but Hargitay earned $500,000 per episode for Season 14, so it’s likely she’ll be holding onto her title as TV’s highest-paid actress.
